Fed Rank progrssion

Hi so im progression throught he fed ranks by doing the rank progression missions . however these seem to have dried up. is there some factor i am missing? are the given missions totally random or is there some way to increase the chance of one of these being given.

i am currently allied w federation and midshipman rank.

Continue doing what you're doing Midshipman kingchub, but perhaps do it in different systems and/or with different Federation factions. Your hard work is being monitored at HQ.

We have the same problem in the Empire.
Do missions for different minor factions and move around different systems. It definitely works, don't give up and keep at it. I spent about 4 hours getting to Baron from Lord so it'll be the same for your inferior ranking system.
p.s. I forgot to call you a reprobate Federal status seeker with no dress sense. ;)

Dunno if it works...I'm stucked on Viscount since 3, 4 weeks....I'm ALLIED with empire and all subfactions since 2 weeks, keeping doin missions for different empire subfactions, combat zones for empire, bounty hunting and so on, visiting different system...but no trace of Naval Ascension Mission.
I guess something isn't working properly, probably bugged

I was also stuck @ Viscount and @ LT.commander for weeks but after spending 2 days of just grinding reputation missions i am now Count and Post Commander.
what I did is basically sit @ the station , pick up all rep missions i can find and wait for more to re spawn - then after several hours of gathering the missions i go out and do them all (some will even be for same destinations or require same commodities)

I did about 25 rep missions each and note - take only the missions for the minor faction which is affiliated with the major faction you want to rank with - do not take other ones

Hey OP.

Just continue earning reputation with several Fed subfactions and eventually you will get a progression mission, after you hit a mysterious general rep threshold and the RNG gods favor you.

There's a fine and useful guide by most remarkable Mr. Yokai buried somewhere in the forums explaining what is currently know about the somewhat arcane progression mechanics.

Please note that it is possible (but not certain) that a progression mission takes a long time to pop up - it took me almost two weeks to get the lieutenant progression mission, and a little more than that to get the next one.

Just be patient and keep at it! : )

I personally went from the lowest fed rank, to Ensign by doing missions for only 1 faction in the galileo station from Sol, all within a timeframe of about 24 hours. Just keep up the good work and you'll get there eventually. If I had any statistics to show you I'd give you how many missions you'd hae to complete, but I don't think there's a way to check it?

It might have gotten harder/easier though, I did this back at release times when you were able to hop between the modes to refresh missions, this way you could just refresh the missions until you got the same type, and you'd accept 10-15 missions at a time that told you to get a specific commodity. go pick it up, and then deliver all 15 at a time ^^ It's cheap, I know but I just wanted the exbeur permit to earn some crazy money. Now I regret a bit because I lost a bit of the feeling of RPing the fight for the federation.

anyways, good luck commander, fly safe :)

It is not bugged, you have to keep working on missions in different areas. I find doing the delivery/buy & fetch missions work fastest. do a dozen or so in one area picking up other delivery missions from places you buy stuff for the others, Then move on to a different area, you will get a rank mission very quickly.
And...as said below, make sure ALL the missions you take are ONLY for minor factions that are associated with the MAJOR faction you want to rank up in. Never Independent ones.

Stop doing sub faction missions, half those groups are indi's and some are crimminal, many times a group is actually opposed to a major faction so working with them will set any rank progression backwards.

Only work for factions that have the Fed symbol next to them in the right hand display if you want to see Ensign, and any mission will do, resource runs as well as combat.

Work smarter, not harder.

Stacking missions is good as several have said but just watch the deadlines. Don't overstretch yourself, failing to complete a mission may have a negative effect on your reputation.

Is exactly what I did in the last 3 weeks. Plus TONS of bounties. And I'm Allied whit Empire. Nothing...seems not quicly but endless!

and dont stack missions that requires going into USSs (ie rebel transmissions etc) with fetch/deliver ones, thereby avoiding going into USSs as you will get very confused getting alternative offers for every fetch/delivery mission.

With regard to progression missions you need to do what has been said here.
And also, have a read of Yokai's Guide. It works.

Take a break, focus on a different area. I got quite interested in the background simulation/politics of the game during part of my Federation "grind" and took my eye off it. I kept doing missions but I started watching the little blue and red arrows in a different part of the screen, looked at the influence %, how the systems and factions fit together. While I wasn't looking I got a couple of promotions. You could focus on bounty hunting or trading as well? Most activities can contribute to your faction reputation to greater or lesser degrees.
