Drones will ruin Elite FD!!

As a dedicated miner, I disagree. The mechanics for mining do not scale well. I could make as much per hour in a mining cobra as I now do in a mining Asp ( where the field is close to the station and travel becomes negligible). The only advantages I get for spending 5-10 mill on the upgrade to an ASP was bigger cargo and maybe more safety, but there is no way of improving income in mining in the current model. We need something where income grows with investment or there is no point. Collection speed is the main controller of that. There needs to be a way of scaling that. Small ships do it the old way, then you get to the bigger ships and you have more options. Maybe something like having a mining drone controller taking up a slot can help it to scale. More expensive ships might allow you to fit more controllers and have more drones out at once, etc.
As a pirate, I disagree as well. Who has time to spend 10 mins scooping cargo after every robbery. Cargo scooping isn't interesting or fun gameplay. It's just boring and tedious.
Alright folks. Let's play a game. Silently laugh at everyone who looked at nothing but the thread title before posting, then invalidate everything they ever say again referencing this thread.

Now to serious matters, it's handcart not basket or bucket. Even with the combination of hell and handbasket it just isn't right.

Now to serious matters, it's handcart not basket or bucket. Even with the combination of hell and handbasket it just isn't right.

I like the idea, with mining takes a lot of time to fill your cargo hold, especially if you fly anything big,
the amount of time and what you get out of it compared to trading is not really worth it for me.
Any way to improve this is a welcome addition, in my opinion.
Or they could give bigger ships better refinery modules, that get more tonnage faster out of scooped materials.
In other words you pay more(big ship, big cargo hold, more room for refinery modules) you get more, more quickly.
Otherwise it would take forever to fill upp anything bigger (lakon type 6) then say a hauler, or adder, ect.

Very good. What I found particularly amusing was the fact that all the audience are sat there straight-faced, it is only the presenter in hysterics. Presumably he had invited the complete anti-drone convention in... I think I'd have had a similar reaction.

Maybe the drones are the beginnings of the THARGOID race and we just dont know it yet!
You know like Star Trek rewrote history in one film? Maybe this game is rewriting the Elite universes history to show how the Thargoid race began, achieved AI, and then came to dominate the whole galaxy - because Arnold was too old to stop them!
Now why cant Frontier do something like that in a patch? That would change the whole game and make it great FUN! I mean its been done before of course but something LIKE THIS is what the game really needs!
