Newcomer / Intro Looking for a detailed explanation of Frame Shift Interdictions

I've been interdicted a few times, and sometimes it seems really easy to avoid, other times it is (quite literally) impossible to avoid. What determines this? Is it the class of the Interdictor component being used? I've been interdicted before, and without doing anything, doing nothing to my joystick and pressing 0 buttons, I "succeeded" in evading the interdiction after just a few seconds. I've also been interdicted, and been unable to follow the target no matter my skill (it was moving faster than my ship could follow it). I'm assuming this is because I'm in a trader junker Type 6 and not a maneuverable ship, is that correct? Or is it only based on the equipage of my attacker?

Where can I find documentation on this?

Only just got my head wet; played for the first time, three hours' worth and got interdicted twice. Totally destroyed both times!
I'd put Learner Plates on but that'd be like a bigger bulls-eye for these vultures!!!

I'll be watching this thread for advice.

I have had similar experiences, seems to be somewhat random, and I'm guessing related to the player\npc skills or modules.

The weird thing is that it's often the best option to just succumb to the interdiction, at least when you realize you are about to loose it, just drop to zero throttle.
This exits hypercruise much gentler and gives you more time to assess your opponent (could just be a cop pulling you over to scan your cargo) but mostly exiting hypercruise gently let's you fire the frameshift drive in 10 seconds instead of 40.
Before I figured this out I was managing to run off with maybe half my hull (if at all), but with this I can exit an engagement much more rapidly and still get off with some shields left, for a hauler dropping shields entirely for more cargo those few seconds become bank fast.

Although best gaming moment of 2015 was loosing an interdiction, only to prove to much for him and get a 50k bounty payout :D

It's weird how we've had such different experiences. I guess I mostly only play with my friends in private groups or solo so maybe that's the key difference, but I've never lost a battle when interdicted in my full A-class Cobra Mk. III, and now that I'm in a Type 6, I can't win but with A-class thrusters and an A-class power distributer, I've never died, being able to outrun even Cobras. I have 2 Chaff Launchers and a Point defense drone, but have never needed to use them. They are not even turned on any more...

That's with a cobra, best I got is an eagle with d gear and I'm guessing the others are still in sidey's.
I'm also guessing you have a bit more time in the game than a few hours ;)

hate interdicting......i just submit so ready to run if need be,,,,,,.... but dont get even half the attacks now im in a vulture... funny that...:)

Have you looked at the price of interdicters in the outfitting screen? Some cost abot 30000cr and others are 1.5m cr. Not looked too closely at the stats but I assume the expensive ones are quite a bit better.

It would stand to reason that the better interdicters allow the user to have a greater chance of pulling you over. It might explain occasionally why I don't see the escape vector option for it sometimes.

But NPCs? Too easy either take the blue pill option where you should be done in short order. Either that or as most people say, submit, boost and your away again quickly.
