Fathers and son's (and of course daughters) Wings?

I fly with my soon 9 year old son. I can leave him alone in a RES and trust that my Python will be unscratched. He is quite capable of taking down every NPC out there, even the better Anacondas

My 4 year old son plays. He can take off, jump to in/out to solar systems, shoot things. I'm the co-pilot! He still needs me for a few things, specifically landing. :)

I'm trying to get my 66 y/o dad to play with me. Problem is the difference in our play styles. I'm more of the challenging/hardcore player (used to run heroic level raids in WoW) where as he is more of the casual type (likes to turn on the cheat codes)

lol It reminds me of something from Eve on-line.

We had a married couple in our Corporation, who would play sitting side by side in their living room, a great couple.

One day, they got a very worried phone call from their 7yo sons teacher. She had got a tad concerned when the lad insisted that "Mummy mines asteroids and builds space ships while Daddy flies a battleship and kills evil space pirates"!

My fifteen year old son got me into this game. He played it for a week, I watched, and was like, " I want this." So I bought a second copy of it. Sadly we only have the one gaming computer, so we don't exactly play toghether, although we watch each other play a lot.

he has this game wired, he has hit upon a progression that I seem to have followed just because it seems so fun and profitable. The only difference is I have done a small bit of exploration, just a couple of 1k ly trips, and he hasn't yet. On the other hand he has a travel specced asp now and I don't.

Now we both are RES hunting and as soon as we are kitted out, we are heading to the core together. He will probably leave a little earlier than I will though.

But...
How many other people fly Elite with family members, or am I the only one?

You're not the only one. I wing up with my gamer son who is now in his late 20s, has a family of his own, and lives in another state. It's a fantastic way to spend time together. We've done this with other games going back to grade school days when multi-player games like Age of Empires were primarily lan-based. We're both loving Elite.

I fly with my son who is 11.
I smashed his hauler into the back of the station the other day, pressing the boost button instead of the landing gear button.

Much wailing and screaming at the TV (plays on an Alienware Alpha).

Lesson learned.
Fortunately I hammered home the importance of insurance so he had a rebuy. He has enough for a Cobra, but won't switch. Loves his little hauler.

me and my bro "named geezer" fly together in ED,in elite 84 me and bruv col n alan took turns killing things,my son and 1 of my nephews are gonna get it when it comes to xbox 1.

My three year old daughter likes to sit on my lap and try and fly the ship. Her hands aren't really suited to a HOTAS ;) sadly she gets bored quickly.

cmdr cola_bh already told you, and I am father , known as cmdr Fanta_BH still not 45, but very soon :) . We do play together but definitely we are different persons, like I love trading he love bounty hunting.Even we are same family but he did effort to whole community when he did kicked my but hardly when I was killing all cmdr's around Ngaliba , you can see it in some of my movies from signature. I am big fan of all games made by Frontier. in last 15 day's I do twitch.tv broadcasting , sometimes playing with son sometimes he just sits next to me and talking, but he is shy a little to show himself in front of camera so for now he sits on side, you can hear him only. Go check my videos from my signature. As I remember fight where my son kicks my but is in movie S01E03 or S01E04 not sure, but still you can hear him in many movies how he telling me what to do in given moment, latest movie like that is me in Viper against some cmdr in Eagle who was brave enough to try on me what I did show in movie Eagle vs Viper. But sadly he lost fight mostly because I had copilot next to me like in real life , he was telling what to do and I did what he said and won battle.

Beside all I am IT expert and big lover of computers and electronics. Can repair almost anything , any device . Second thing I love as hobby is fast cars and racing.

My 2 year old and 5 year old have both flown my ships.

My 5 year old is getting quite good at travelling for me, so I'm quite happy to leave her to it :)

My son is 12 and we mostly play Terraria and OMD2 together... but I think it only time until he get's ED - especially since I recently upgraded to an X52 pro leaving my old Logitech 3D gathering dust.

My 8 months old years boy is fascinated by the lights of my joysticks...

Dont know though if I can trust him to land my Python. He sometimes pull the landing gear when I am in combat and he is on my lap.

Better dock that kid some credits, just to be safe. :D

Love these stories. I love video games, my sone loves video games, I have great memories of finishing halo (1) with my infant daughter fast asleep on my lap and me frantically button mashing.

I'm not allowed to play anymore. my two year old has taken over my space sims and racing sims... i have to do it all in secrecy now lol.

I'm trying to persuade my son-in-law, who is a keen gamer, to try ED. Winging up with him would be awesome! Trouble is I'm retired and he's not, so a little thing called work gets in the way. Could always buy him a copy of the game for his birthday, but my daughter would probably be very annoyed!
