So I finally splashed out on a Vulture after spending much time at RESs in my Cobra.
The first ship I encountered was a NPC Anaconda and didn't feel threatened for even a split second while I ran down its shields. An Annie with all guns blazing is quite a sight and my shields were getting battered. 3 pips to sys, 3 to wep. Next I selected the power plant and kept going until I manouvered and hit from behind. The turn rate is great in the Vulture. Some SAVs came along and I was able to finish off the Anaconda. That was easy!
Next some sidewinders and eagles were despatched pretty quickly, followed by an Adder and couple of Vipers.
It just makes bounty farming that much quicker, plus I can spend more time at RESs because I don't need to replenish multicannon ammo like I did on the Cobra.
The power management and lack of jump distance on the Vulture is its two drawbacks. Jump distance I am less bothered about, but for a heavy fighter a good power plant is essential. The Vulture is what I would expect most NPCs/players to be using in a High Intensity War Zone situation where having sufficient power is essential. Imagine being assaulted by a 4-ship wing?
