I'm quite tempted by ironman myself.. its quite the daunting prospect when I think about it.
I always play ironman in any game that offers the option.
It's hard to understand how much immortality actually affects the way you play, until you find yourself without it. There's nothing quite like it for getting the heart pumping.
You've got to be all Buddha about it though. Learn to let go, accept that eventually you are going to die.
It's very rewarding if you can handle it, you'll find the standard game quite pedestrian afterwards.

The survey confirms what David said. ED is above all a multiplayers game
But one with the very important fallback option of fully solo play should the multiplayer aspect become unpleasant. Most MP games don't have that.
It would be interesting in a few months after the release, that Frontier publishes of statistics, We would see what direction the game took
Ironman for me too. It's got to be the All Group and it's got to be a Sidewinder.
If you cruise Liqua, what will you do?
I must say I was getting a bit concerned that I'd hardly see anyone in game given some people commenting that they would be playing solo/private group or offline. Its great to see there are going to be plenty of people to engage with.
If the vast majority of players are going to be in the all players group its not going to hurt our experience if some choose to play in a private group or play it solo.

It would depend - probably nothing in a starter SW. Run or yield the cargo, fight if he was going to kill me anyway. I want to survive in Ironman!
My Bounty Hunting lifestyle is going to have to be earned by small time trading, packet delivery and any dodgy stuff that I think I can get away with.

Seconded. I have no problems with PvP but sometimes you just want to get on and achieve something without being interrupted by other people. I'm really hoping that they include some incentive for co-op, like a player group disabling a capital ship. Or a strike team to get through a system blockade. I find co-op play far more satisfying that simple deathmatch mechanics.

Nope, no you didn't miss anything. Me thinks someones a still a little bent out of shape from the *guilds* poll that died a dismal death of *NO!*. This poll is just attempting to now put people into boxes. Come on Cosmos, if you are going to put a poll up at least balance it, don't shove people into set boxes. ED is not that game, you know that.

Factually incorrect, I am not bent out of shape and its probably best not to go down the route of ad hominem. This has little to do with polling about guilds - a subject I am somewhat ambivalent about.
The main reason I made this poll, my very first, is because over the space of my entire time on these forums I have seen a huge amount of negativity towards multi-player. Many people have been highly vocal that they would be playing offline or in a private group and expressed a dislike for online play. Given the game is meant to be a multiplayer one I was concerned I'd be in the All Player group on my own.
So I asked people to choose the option that most appeals to them.
Can you elaborate and explain how you think poll isn't balanced?
I vote for option E) All of the above.
I envisage plenty times I'll want to play in the All Players group, I'll also want to play in a small group with my daughter, offline for trying stuff out & avoiding the moving galaxy goalposts, and solo group for when I don't have much time & just want a quick fix of Elite without any distractions.

Why? If you die and you find that too stressful for you, simply move your dead guy to the all players group where he will be all alive again.
