Another Topic about ''Rank''

Yes, i know. This as been asked many times, but i want someone to tell me what i'm doing wrong exactly.
So, here it is ;

I've been doing missions for ''Empire Grace'' for over a week now and I haven't been able to rank up any further than Serf.
Trying to acquire the Imperial Clipper.

-Yes, I'm in an Empire System, controlled by the Empire.
-Yes, There are minor factions, under the Empire rule.
-Yes, i'm allied with the Empire,Federation,Alliance.
-Yes, I've been doing a lot of bounty hunting for reputation. 30 millions worth of bounty hunting mixed between all 3 factions.
-Yes, I've tried turning in bounty in an empire station for extra reputation.
-I've been doing TONS of missions for the Empire Grace.
-The only time i failed missions was when a server reset occurred, making me fail 3 missions. But i've completed at least 20 since then.
-Yes i'm an Alpha/Beta player.
-No, its my first time trying to make a living via bounty hunting, it explains why its my first time Ranking in a faction.
-Yes, i'm at a Large Population Station

And I still don't see any Naval Rank missions nor missions with a different name stipulating Accession opportunity, i make sure to check every missions.

Sorry for the somewhat annoying presentation, any help or suggestions would be Welcome! :)
its starting to '''' me off to be honest, but i must persevere i suppose.

Some other questions ;
How to i see exactly how much the Empire trust me, how much it increase when i turn in bounties or missions ? It really isn't clear except for Allied status.
How do i know how many missions i need to accomplish before even having a chance to see a Naval mission pop-up?
Do i need to a high reputation with the minor faction in the system as well as with the Empire Grace ?

UPDATE : For some strange reasons, after more than a week of looking for a Naval Mission I got 3 in a row in an Anarchy system/Federal Station.
I know, its weird. Its not even an Empire controlled sector/station.

Hi Promethor. I've been a Warrant Officer with the Federation Navy for over a couple of months. I ticketed the issue a while back with the Frontier Support team, and here's what was said:

Subject: Federation Rank Progress Roadblock
16/02/2015 1:28 pm John Wilson
I have been unable to progress in my Federation Navy rank for the past two weeks. Progression missions seem to never appear, no matter where I go. I am allied with the Federation and several of its factions. I've been a warrant officer for about two weeks. Also, old system permits reappear in the Bulletin Board. I'm not sure if those two issues are related, though.

Thanks for your time and take care.

It's March 27th and I still haven't been able to rank up in the Federation Navy. No progression missions ever show, and every Federation Faction is allied with me, even if I've never worked for each specific faction.

I'd really appreciate an response to this issue soon.

Hi John,

Thanks for getting in contact with us about this.

I can see on your account that your Federation points are at 14.9454.

When you get higher than 12 you get to rank Warrant Officer.

When you get higher than 17 you get to the next rank Ensign.

Higher than 23.5 you get to Lieutenant, and so on.

I remember that this can be rather frustrating when you cant pick up a rank progression mission.

The issue with the unavailable mission due to a permit is something the Development team are aware of and I believe has been fixed in a recent update.

I'd advise doing a combat zone or resource extraction site to get a bunch of combat vouchers or bounties for the Federation and this will give you the extra boost needed to get to the next rank.

Let me know if you are still having issues with this and I'll check your skill points then and see what they're at.

I hope this helps and have a happy Easter!

Fly safe,

Frontier Developments

And I'm definitely considering reporting the issue again soon if my rank won't increase. Between February and now, I've participate in conflict zones, explored and sold some of that data at Fed stations, earned millions in bounties for the Federation, done a few missions, and so on.

Then again, maybe there's something I'm doing wrong that I'm not realizing.

Thanks for your reply. We seem to have the same problem. And i suppose there is no way to look how much Empire point i have IG.

All I can say is keep doing what you're doing. 20 missions isn't that much from what I have seen myself. I have ranked all the way up to post commander in the federation. There were times I would leave the station to do a run already holding around 20 missions that I piled up. I would do this for days. Trading missions mostly with some assassinations here and there. Sometimes you will all of a sudden get several rank missions all in a row out of nowhere. There is definitely some randomness to it.

It could be worse. I have been out in the black for almost 4 weeks and the observer in my ASP has mentioned "rank" several times, but in a different context. Maybe the AFMU can fix the air circulation filters.

Woah, i finaly got a progression mission! Not even in the Empire System i was grinding missions. Got it in Komovoy, Anarchy system with a Federation spaceport lol. Silves dock gave the mission to me, yes its a Federation station... I don't understand how a federation station can give me Ranks for the Empire, but i'll take it. ''Master!''

That almost made my head explode- an Empire rank mission given at a Fed station in an anarchy system. Maybe I should work for the Thagaroids (or whatever you call them) to rank up in the Fed Navy.

Maybe I need to do some grunt work for other galactic nations to rank up in the Fed. lol I'm so confused.

And Fen Harel- your pilot's suit doubles as a mobile toilet/filtration system. Maybe you're not consuming enough of your own filtered waste fast enough? I imagine that would be worse than a clogged toilet.

That's nasty. I apologize :D

But yeah, one guy, one ship, 4 weeks straight. I think I can sense your "rank" from Sol.

But thanks for the update, Promethor. It gives me hope, I think...

Have a look at who you're killing - are they allied to the faction that you're working for?

I'm sure most of my bounties are Allies, but I'm not sure how else to obtain Federation bounties outside of Federation territory. If I go to the Empire, most criminals will be Imperial. Same deal with the minor factions. Which, I could use a Kill Warrant Scanner in anarchies, but still no guarantees the bounties will be Federation, and if they are I'm sure they'll likely be associated with a Fed faction.

And besides I haven't gotten any negative rep for killing Fed criminals. I thought killing criminals wanted by the Feds meant I was serving the Feds, rather than working against them. I remember this being an issue at launch, but fixed later (in that killing Fed criminals doesn't hurt Fed rep).

Obviously, though, I'm doing something wrong. If killing Fed criminals hurts rank, I should be busted down to having no rank at this point.

Man, this makes my head spin.

Yeah, me too. I was about to loose hope, but i got one out of the blue haha :)

HAHAHA ! I just got another Rank mission for the Empire in the Federation Station !?

I really don't get it, but i won't question it!

Hmm... lol.

At least two people on an ASP, though. My co-pilot is Cassandra Pentagast, and no one is going to tell me that isn't true. :)

I was a lord for a long time and am still friendly with the Empire. All I did was about 5-6 missions for different Empire factions in an Empire system and the Rank mission popped up.

I ranked with the Federation from Recruit to Post Commander in about 4 days.

The trick is to find a good system with multiple faction stations of the faction of your choice, and stay there. (Beta Hydri is a good system for the Federation, it is a permit system but you only need to get to Petty Officer to get there).

Only pick up missions offered from the Federation entities (If you are ranking up with the Feds), and prioritize the handout missions where you do stuff for reputation only (Usually the hand symbol).

The rank up missions can be a bit random (and can sometimes be from the black ops for the Feds), so you might have to do missions to clear out the current ones.

If you get multiple rank up missions at the same time, only one will count and you have to go back to doing normal missions. I usually picked up all the faction missions from all the stations in system at the same time. You will be hauling a lot, and yes the missions can be quite boring, but they are effective.

If you have any questions, feel free to ask.

Oh, and the kill missions are still bugged (The ones that offer over 100k credits for you to go kill someone specific), so I don't recommend doing those as of 1.2.

I use this formula
bounty hunt for 3 hours run 4 missions repeat.
same applies to conflict zones
what types of missions you do affects you in different ways
example a donation mission for tea, this is usually only a good thing everyone like a Good Samaritan.
on the flipside donations for weapons, while the faction that hired you may like you for this their competition which may also be empire will not take too kindly to you running guns for their opposition.
I only run benign missions that have little chance of negative impact. Message delivery, and reputation gain missions like donating food or medicines.
when bounty hunting it's not as big of an issue anymore but you can avoid attacking targets affiliated with the empire. You take a reputation hit for attacking a target that is allied with an empire faction unless that same faction issued the bounty. You get more rep for the bounty than you lose but it can set you back.
after you do a mission you get a debrief with a graphical bar for your reputation I move to another system if that's over 3/4 of the way full.
be sure to only take missions from empire factions.
message delivery missions are a great mission to take because they take you to other usually empire stations where you can check their BB for a naval mission. Spreading the love around also seems to trigger events.
this has worked for me and my friends hopefully you'll find it useful.

I don't remember ever having received an advancement mission at the station I was running missions from, it always came at a nearby station (usually an outpost) in the same system or another nearby system.

Its kind of weird that i get the missions after posting this, and haven't seen one in more than a week before.

Just received my Post Commander rank last night.
This is what I've learned: Never kill green ships, no matter their wanted status.
A ranking mission can come from even an independent station, so long as there is a minor faction (Federation in my case) as part of the station's population. My Post Commander mission came as a surprise during my visit to a independent station. I do not recall if ascension missions can spawn at outposts.
After gaining rank, go somewhere else, find a place that has a minor faction for whomever you're trying to rank for.
Do missions for that minor faction, upon completion, you see the influence for that minor faction going up. The color should be blue, if white, you might have maxed out your reputation/influence, and should find another faction to do missions for.
I do not do any kill missions, as the unintended consequences to a (now) friendly faction can be contra to what you're trying to accomplish.
Trade, donate, give, smuggle, all good.
I went from Lt. to Post Cmdr in about 6 hrs of gameplay by doing the above.
The permit(s) missions listed as unavailable doesn't matter at all.
