If the level of fidelity is even close to what the trailer shows making another two factions for clones/droids would've heavily delayed the game. No space battles sucks but I promise you we'll get it eventually as DLC.

It's worth remembering that this game is set in a specific part of the Disney/Star Wars timeline - I'd imagine that EA can't randomly add factions that didn't exist in the relevant timeframe/battles.

And in terms of 'no space battles', I wonder if EA are intending to relaunch the Tie-fighter/x-wing series as a dedicated game... (in which case having space combat in Battlefront would seem to duplicate things?)

No it isn't. There's just the one map that explains how the Star Destroyer ended up half buried in the desert. Besides that it's just Endor and Hoth and so on. There's no continuity issue preventing them from having Clone Wars.

There's certainly a Disney timeline floating around that has a 'Battlefront' entry under 'A New Hope'. (surely it makes sense for Disney if the new game builds hype for the people/settings in the new movie, rather than getting people interested in the prequels?)

Maybe after the movie is released Disney will let them revisit the older timeline, or maybe the idea is to move Battlefront into the new movie timeline?

Dunno.

i decided a while back that i would not buy any more EA games. i got what i felt was completely ripped off with battlefield 3.

so imagine my annoyance when i found out that there was going to be a star wars game which played like battlefield.

oddly the game i actually want is a star wars game set in space that has the depth of ED.
i loved SWG jump to light speed.

anyway long story short,

i am going to right off the £60 as a loss and i'm gonna buy battlefront.

it will either be really good, or it wont. we shall see.

Was very excited.

Played Beta and enjoyed it, then began realizing that that's all its going to be, and how much it is missing compared to Battlefront 2, then I saw price and got more dishearted, then I saw Season pass price, and realize EA in my eyes are ripping people off.

Was excited, now I am not getting it until substantial more features are added, so it even can compare with Battlefront 2, which incidentally is still working and quite enjoyable at that. So yeah no thanks :(

The game presentation is stunning - it sounds perfect, and it looks like you are in the SW movie. And me as a fan of the old movies was absolutely amazed by the world that this game has presented.
But, as I predicted, its business, and EA will be pushing those season passes and "battlepacks" with even less content for our money. We paying "premium" for two emotes and the guns/perks we can easily gain in the game anyway.
And the season pass does not even tells you want it will include. I burned myself with BF4 - as much as I truly enjoyed the beta of SW BF, there is no way I will buy it at the full price, and gods forbid buying any premium stuff.

Yup, basically the same here, game itself looks potentially great, but when you then realize the lack of content and such, and the pricing. Yeah....poof, will just play some Fallout 4...

My lad has already pre-ordered. It's Star Wars and it looks like some fun. As to the money, being able to watch the development of ED has made me change my view point slightly. If I like the game I am prepared to part with more money. Yes I know there is profiteering going on, but hey if I want to play, I need to pay.

Yes, this is the problem of it all, but at least for me, it has reached a breaking point, and I am not going to buy it at the very least until it costs a LOT less. Because we are getting a lot less.

I've decided to watch it from afar for the forseeable future. Its release is pretty close to that of Garden Warfare 2, and with ED also being there, I don't even have time to play two multiplayer shooters - and Garden Warfare 2 just seems like so much more fun (I love the first game).

After watching several hours of Twitch streams, Confirmed EA is EA. (Hoth is the one I watched most) ;0

This video has been making me laugh since I swore off EA games after Battlefield Bad Company 2 (Luckily this game was decent but I avoided the BF3/BF4 issues)

EA in a nutshell-Youtube 4:49

Tried battlefront, played it for about an hour didn't like it, yes the graphics looks amazing the sound is good, but the gameplay sucks, this is not battlefront its something else, I played the originals and the only thing I did enjoy about the game was I could see the enemies more clearer than on BF3, then I saw the video on angryjoes channel about it and yeah it just gets worse and worse, what winds me up is on angryjoes video he says don't buy it, and then 2 mins later I might buy it lol

anyway after an hour the game was uninstalled

I really really really hope disney do not screw up the new star wars film I am a very big star wars fan

Initially I was very happy when I heard SW Battlefront 3 would be made.
I have sobered up now.
I will avoid this like the plague.
This is not the game I want.

EA is a horrible publisher.
I loved the Mass Effect series, but I never bought ME3 after I saw what they did with DLC for ME2.
This game will get the same treatment.
