Really disappointed

It is really disappointed and upset. Having spent $60.00 on a pc game that is so buggy. You would think after months of gamma, bate, alpha, ect. And a couple of months live that I could expect a game that doesn't randomly crash to desktop. Or refuses to allow me to even log in. And b4 you say it I have read the forums, and have gotten the crashes down to once every hour or two. But it seems the devs all say it's our equipment and not their software and close the threads citing them as solved. I put a ticket in today for the not being able to login problem, as I had no other choice. I like the game, so fan boy, don't yell at me to uninstall and leave. I just am really upset. If it was something I bought in store I could atleast return it for a product that worked. But apparently it is "working as intended".

I get the sense the devs are trying to juggle too many plates and can't keep up with the bugs.

Try rolling back a gfx driver because 350.12 is basically a patch for GTA5.

Check you hard drives, if they are HDD and are failing they will get slower and slower.

Security suites can play havoc with connection so check that too.

Hi williamstanko. Since I don't know what you have and have not tried, the following may be of some or possibly no use to you.

Have you tried running the game without the GTX 660's in SLI? Maybe ED doesn't play nice with that?

Good Luck solving your issue.....

Try dialing back your overclock on those GPU's.
im assuming they're overclocked if they aren't look into your drivers, or the overclock on your CPU.

It sounds like a stability issue to me.

I'm running an R7 amd integrated with an A10 quad core and 8gb of ram. I am running this game on mostly high settings with AA at full resolution. No problems at all. Are you connected via WiFi or with a cable direct to your router? I am running a cable...

Sorry if I am not much help...but you have a higher end rig than mine and, as it seems, more problems...

I feel for you mate but intermittent issues are a pain.

Are you certain it is not your rig? For instance I had what I thought was a stable over clock on my gtx980 I can run heaven, and kombuster as well as other games all day but elite gives me graphics driver hangs

At stock I have not had a single crash. If you have any over clocks at all try removing them other than that you could try uninstalling and reinstalling. Its a long shot but I know GTA has issues with corrupt files when installing. Good luck

I can't test this myself as I don't run SLI, but I've read of other people having problems trying to run ED with two graphics cards. It could be worth disabling one temporarily just to rule this out.

Like I said, I've gone thru the forums, and have turned down my settings to stock. I have no problems running anything else. Rolled back my driver. Chec k my internet connection. I didn't know we have to connect to a server in the UK. I live in Idaho. that's a hell of a long way. No NA severs? Is that the problem? Hey spend some of those profits.

Running 2 GTX 760 in SLI and no problems, the new nvidia drivers are the problem installed and tried to run ED, crash revert to old drivers OK

Not trying to be a "fanboy" (which is a word that exists only to insult people who disagree with your point of view anyway) but what you describe is cwrtainly not my experience, quite the opposite in fact. I don't do.anything special with it, I multitask with browsers, emails, and even skype and viber, I leave my compurer running for days or even weeks without a reboot, and I find the game to be incredibly stable... and I'm.pretty sure that this is the case for the vast majority of players given the lack of complaints like yours.

Don't get me wrong, I'm not trying to minimise the frustration you're obviously feeling or claim that the game is perfect... but it does sound to me like the hourly CTD's are an issue on your end, not FD's or it would be a lot more widespread than it is. What you describe sounds to me like faulty memory more than anything else. The failure log in is most likely (as others have said) to be a networking issue or again, others would be experiencing it. Is there another network on a different isp you can try, perhaps at a friend's house? Or worst case on a 3g/4g connection, at least to test the login? (I wouldn't try playing on that, it'd be real laggy, but it'd be ok to test and compare).

Check the following thread..

Try using different DNS servers, Google's seem to work well.

Game's rock solid for me. I had one "coming out of jump" crash a few weeks ago.
My card's nothing fancy. Windows 7, 64-bit. Works great.

Yes, you did say you have gone thru the forums. That does not say what YOU have tried specific to your problem. If you can post what steps you have taken, maybe someone else might catch something you have not tried.

As for NA servers: The one I show connecting to is located in New Jersey.

For me, Elite has been rock stable since at least 1.2. Crashes can have a gazillion different causes, including but not limited to:

Issues in Windows install
Bad RAM
Flaky Power-Supply
Wiring
Drivers
Network or Internet problems
Etc

If ED is stable for most, but not for you, you might have to check your system

That still doesn't mean it's not your PC. I've had plenty of bizarre problems with various programs over the years from faulty hardware, ranging from poor regulation on one of the power supply rails to bad RAM to a faulty motherboard.

Elite has crashed on me exactly twice, and both were very much expected - they were video driver crashes when I was experimenting with how high I could overclock my GPU and remain stable.

Does anything show up in the Windows error log when it crashes to desktop? Simply having a bad network connection shouldn't do that, it would give you a "failed to connect to transaction server" error or something and boot you out, but it DOES give you popup error messages.

only thing i wondering is how come all these type of posts never really say WHAT there problems are, other than very vaguely hinting at something, which btw, happens to be pretty much the same issues as in many other games... then they go on insulting anyone that they call "fanboy"
next comes the conspiracy theories vs FD and there evil intents

i might have tried a few suggestions had you not started out by accusing evryone... troll! (another one like this to my ignore list i guess)

oh and btw.. i have very little issues, crashes or bugs in this game.. might be its ur gear afterall...

Thanks for everybody's help. But since I can't log on it doesn't make any difference now. Thanks again.

Does Task Manager show elitedangerous.exe still running? Try killing it and/or rebooting your PC to ensure you don't have a dead copy of the game lingering somewhere.

I play a lot of PC games and have seen a lot of games which are unstable. This game, in my experience, is rock solid in comparison. I've had almost no problems with this game since mid January when I started the game. I have a single nVidia 570 and the game looks awesome on it. I used to have two SLIed 570s but ran into too many problems while gaming with them. I would suggest that you turn SLI off and maybe even remove one of the cards to test.
