Where do Orcas go?

I only ever see them leaving stations! I never see them in USS or RES. Certainly not in Conflict zones and can't remember seeing one at a Nav beacon. Do they all disappear into some space bermuda triangle or something?!

Wonder if anyone actually flies one?

They often briefly drop in at Nav Beacons as tour ships un beautiful locations then jump out again.

Might be my imagination but I only seem to see them at the more 'wow' locations. Fancy suns, waterworlds, tourist economies.

I saw a bunch of them in the Puget Sound not long ago. :D

Back before 1.2, I caught a few now and again at Nav beacons, but it was rare. Given their purpose as couriers and yachts for the wealthy, I'd be extremely surprised to ever see them in CZ or RES, they're not combat ships.

On a more serious note, there might be a reason for them in 1.3 or a later update. There are currently no mssions for taking a tour party from A to B or a person trying to escape assasins. Also, ther are as yet no cabins for passengeers.

The Orca and Dolphin (when it comes) are effectively luxury limos, just don't try standing out thru the sun-roof, even with a Remlok on, the cosmic rays will make you glow in the dark of space :p :D

I've seen a few Orcas at the Nav Point I hang about at to bounty hunt. It's also the only ship type I've not seen a wanted pilot flying so far.

I did! Only once though about 2 weeks ago. It had a 20,000-ish bounty and was flying in supercruise. I could't resist and interdicted it but it didn't put up much of a fight. It tried to run away relying on turrets for defence. It was fast but my Cobra was faster.

I own an orca, its fast, but a clipper is just as fast and cheaper.
Passengers were confirmed yesterday to not be in 1.3, so no reason to use one still.

I'd been to a res a few times, its not horrible at pitching if you put an A6 thruster on it, but for the money its not worth the hassle. A kitted out FDL is cheaper and much better.

Some of the younger ones can be quite timid, and take some time to build confidence.
They hang around the station entrances for security, unable to make that final leap into the open ocean/space.

Oh really? I hoped they finally introduce them in 1.3 and give those transport ships a meaning. Do you mind telling me where you saw that information? I didn't find it in the "AMA".

Michael Brooke answered someones question on it.
Not actually sure what thread it was in now, it wasn't something David Braben said.

I better start warming up my "tour-guide dialect" in preparation for hauling passengers. How does this sound for my conflict zone tours:

"Ladies and gentlemen this is your Cmdr speaking. I want to draw your attention to the starboard side windows. If you look quickly you should see the final death throes of a Federal Dropship as it is blown to smithereens by a rowdy bunch of vipers. If you miss that, no worries. Their will be plenty more to see as this Galactic Cruise of Horrors will include stops at several USS's where, with any luck, we should find some hapless trader getting blasted by Gankers posing as Pirates!!!"

"Thank you for flying ACME space lines,,,,,,,"

I found an Orca in SC once with an 80K bounty, really felt bad cashing that one in. Could not imagine what an Orca had to do to get a bounty that high.
