Sag A* - ZUNUAE - FROARKS - BLEAE AEWSY - SKAUDAI - FLYIEDGAI - TRAIKEOU - BUBBLE - HEART & SOUL - LBN 623

A couple of screenshots from my trip to Sagittarius A* and a lot of them from my sightseeing trip back. The idea was to get to the center and then travel towards the Heart and Soul Nebulae on the edge. Picking up Nebulae as I went.

Sagittarius A*

ZUNUAE
Close to Sagittarius there's this little black hole nebula

Couldn't make a decent snapshot because of the star clutter

FROARKS
I guess FROARKS is named after the sound you make when you first see it up close

BLEAE AEWSY
Also known to me as the Sneezing Dragon Nebula because of the way it looks on the GalMap top down. The actual snapshot (last picture) was less convincing

SKAUDAI

TRAIKEOU

One of my sidequests was to find an Earth like with a view. And sure enough TRAIKEOU delivered.

Ok, so I did find it, but I wasn't the first. Bummer. On the other hand, it's a nice idea to think that CMDR Landolph may have been watching the same scene as I was.

BUBBLE

HEART & SOUL

So that's it I thought, time to go home. And then my planned route took me to this little feller

LBN 623

But then it was really time to get back

45 days of travel. Now I'm going to buy a Vulture and shoot something :)

Great shots! I know every explorer first heads to the nebulae, but they do look amazing as they get bigger and bigger as you approach. Really give a sense of scale. :)

The nice thing about LBN 623 and indeed coming in from outer spinward in general is that it is only about 4 jumps from the end of Sirius Corporations expansion project at Sophis, cutting off a good 2-300 ly off a trip back to civilisation.

Nice journey Ziggs.
My personal favourite has to be the Bubble Nebula. It's like a freaking bubble... in SPACE!

Im sat 15ly above it and going in later today, after RL has finished getting in the way.
Im doing nebula tour and cataloguing as many Neutron stars as possible en route around the galaxy.

How much did you earn for the 45 days when you cashed all the data in Ziggy?
About 60 mil. But I have to admit once I started Nebula gazing, scanning took a bit of a backseat. Finding the angles was way more important

I never heard of it before. Found it when plotting towards H&S. First I thought it was a really big star when I saw it from a distance. It's a weird and wonderful thing.

I was aiming close to that. Never saw LBN until this purple dot in the background of the Milky Way disc started growing.

Glad people like this shots. Making them was a puzzle/joy :)

To be honest I've found the views on approaching a nebula to be fantastic, the views inside them not so.
Thats why my nebula tour became visit the nebulas but try to find as many neutron stars en route, have map view set so I can find them and I plot course via each neutron star etc
Occasionally swith to view scoopables just to make sure I dont become stranded like I almost did in the Perseus Dark Sector.

I feel the same way. They're best viewed when just filling the screen so you can make out the shape.

I like how on one side it can be bright blue nebula, but when you go around it it slowly transforms into some ominous black thing.

Yup
I dunno what I was expecting, maybe something a bit more like how they do the interior of nebulas in Star Trek, or something along those lines at least.
What I got in my first nebula, the California Nebula, was just dark and a bit red.

I knew I wasn't a skilled fighter pilot, but 3 months of exploring untaught me the little skill I had. NPCs will die of laughter before I hit anything :)

Still ... no reason to gimball it up. I'll improve. You'll see. Need to be in shape to defend the Alliance in Powerplay.

Excellent shots Commander!

Everyone else is such a better photographer than me, ah well. I'm impressed and a little jealous. So have some Rep!

I've been to some of these. I hit the Bubble Nebula on Easter and it looked like a big space jellybean.

I have been the far side of the Heart and Soul Nebula and they looked to me - one of them anyway - like a vast winged creature descending on the Galaxy.

Of course, there is also Barnard's Loop. From certain angles it looks like a creepy clown face. So, the less said about that the better!
