Anaconda armed trader

Hi
I am using my anaconda to trade in closed so have the usual set up, A4 shield, A6 FSD, everything else D, no weapons.
Thinking I really should try open trading. What set up would people suggest?
Also how many people trade in open?
I only fight (RES or CZ) in open in a vulture

You will find that most players in open will leave you alone, especially if you are in an anaconda.
If you are worried about it I'd put a bigger shield on, with all shield boosters. You will be able to tank the damage anyone puts on you while you jump away after interdiction.

I've traded in open since just after release and I have been successfully interdicted once (when I had no cargo) by a very polite player pirate. I stick to quiet systems when I trade and if I need to go anywhere that's 'hot' I take a fast, well armed ship. Currently my Anaconda is optimised for a particular trade route, but I've not had any problems with NPCs using this setup:

Open isn't a problem for trading in an Anaconda. You can make money fast enough to cover the occasional loss of some cargo or ship (or both).

I would recommend you start away from the highly player populated systems though (Lave is not a good place to start for example).

I will carry a couple of gimballed and turrets
to fend off pirates. You wlll be able to take most npcs.

No weapons? Let me know what system you're in and I'll help carry some of your cargo :)

With a 4A shield, 8 boosters and 4 PIPs in SYS, you shouldn't have any problem running away from pirates.
I'm using that setup for the trade CG, have been interdicted a few times and iirc never lost a single ring to my shields.
Being interdicted by a wing of 3 anacondas may be a problem, but it's quite unlikely to happen.

I trade in open. Anaconda can't (reasonably) be mass locked, so you go 'pfff...' and charge your drive.

*edit*
For the record...
I've never been interdicted in open, so I've never done 'pfff...' in the first place. Open is pretty safe imo.

This is the setup I use on my route

It depends on the route, mine is a little over 18LY so I built it to do that in one jump. I add or lose weight depending on how far the route is.
ample firepower even against most players let alone npc's and those boosters actually do quite a bit for that little shield.
trading in open is pretty much the same as it is in solo. You might see players at stations that largely leave you alone or say hi. Depending on where you are such as a community goal there might be some pirates about. If you do get caught listen to their demands if they're reasonable go ahead and drop some they usually leave you alone after that. If it's a small ship just ignore it or blow it out of the sky. 4 pips to sys gives you a huge shield buffer to FSD away. You don't need to boost unless it's an anaconda. But you shouldn't be running from another Conda that's built to fight.
But this is extremely rare and shouldn't deter you from open play.

Hi this is the build I'm running atm for trading and RES fun for when the trade grind starts to really grind
jump range isa little low but I've found a 1 jump 2500CT route I've settled on with a RES point right outside one of the stations.

Only open, always without weapons. Why would you need them? You can always get away from any NPC. And if you are interdicted by the player then you would not want to engage in combat in this case and your only option would be to get out of there ASAP and weapons are not used to get out of there.

The only performance drop with my armed set up compared to my unarmed is 1ly less jump range. It gives me a nice glow inside knowing I can shoot back even if it is only a NPC sidewinder.

You have 8 utility slots so shield boosters are your friend. Other Anacondas can mass lock you, so may need to be careful if you get jumped by players with friends in Anacondas who teleport to the wing beacon.

I really don't see the point in trading in Open, or playing in Open period. The PvP is a farce with logoffski, instant shield regen, wing beacon teleportation, etc... going on. That's not even mentioning the hacks for infinite shields, ammo, weapon energy, jump range, whatever.

And engaging in combat with that Sidewinder prevents you from earning 70-100k. So it is a very bad idea to fight back if you are interdicted by NPC.

So much truth, your middle name should be Veritas. ;)

I trade in my conda in open all the time, since nothing can masslock you you're relatively safe. I run A4 shields, just took care of a Master NPC Python while carrying 452t of gold as I wrote this, nice 116k bonus to the trip!
