Eagle to Sag A??

I am heading home to Sol after a 15,000LY trip to Eta Carinae and am already thinking about my next exploration trip. I have to visit Sag A just to say I have been there and was thinking of doing it in something a little different and the Eagle came to mind.
Now, apart from the lack of hardpoints and the fact I will probably be fuel scooping every 5 minutes does anyone see any other issues I may encounter?
I have specced a build and can get 20LY jumps from it. Will that be enough?

Yes, 20LY is enough, the stars only get denser towards the core. Just don't ever veer off far 'above' or 'below' the galactic pane and, obviously, watch your fuel tank!

Respect commander for attempting that in an Eagle, good luck!

It will probably take me to mid week to get back and sell all my data. Then I will need a few days shooting bad guys so I don't feel burnt out by all that exploring then I think I will give it a go.

I'd take the long route: travel the arm of the galaxy and spiral inward. Less likely to find yourself in a "gap" where there are no stellar candidates for refueling. You could also wait for 1.3 to release... in case you do get stuck maybe you could bribe someone to drop you some fuel.

I was thinking if it would be possible to do that trip in a sidewinder. The issue I think is that it is so easy to take heat damage, but yet, you need to scoop so often. It takes a lot of concentration to get that right jump after jump.

Maybe you might wanna give this thread a look before you head out in your Eagle:

Buckyball Run A*

If anything else you'd be the first recorded visitor in an Eagle :D

Don't stick to the galactic plane either however , that is where the unscoopables is thickest

There is always a way across the gaps in the arms, actually leaving the middle and going up or down makes it easier
