Heading out into the black

Heh yeah, the weapons were a last minute decision while i was still traveling to the edge of inhabited space...Didnt want to get caught with my pants down so to speak...I have to head back now anyway for the repair modules so i will prob ditch all the offensive capabilities. Might even try and afford a detailed surface scanner too before I head out on my expedition.

Hopefully the two unexpored planets i found will have my name placed on them when i get back to a station :)

No need for them. Made a journey half-way through the galaxy in the Sidewinder with zero shields; no weapons and just the smallest fuel scoop. Need nothing but the scanners and scoop out in Timbuktu (just be careful -- 100 to 0 key nearby in case a binary is located at the portal entrance [suckers will burn your ship up quick otherwise]). Repair module is nice, but also unnecessary unless it's a super l-o-n-g excursion where getting back the risk of losing all that data is even possible.

Only real danger out there is the binaries or ramming something accidently (hitting a ring of a gas giant, for example).

My first expedition was a success;

Now to better equip myself to leave, and never have to return... traded my Adder for a Viper for some bounty hunting to fund my next trip :)

Man, I killed one anaconda with my viper(97k),...it was just to much for me..chasing down people, knowing that if i miss one bullet and clip a cop I will be annihilated by the local law enforcment? I am truly in vexed by bounty hunting.

Sold the Viper straight up, got a Hauler cause no Adders are in stock anywhere...wish I hadn't sold it.

Had about 500k after I sold the Viper and I was able to afford a detailed surface scanner and an auto field maintenance unit, I think I am better prepared and my second trek will serve me better in obtaining spiritual enlightenment, deeper into the abyss.

This game is great in orders of magnitude.

I've made it 7kLy beyond Sag A without either. Fuel scoop is a 5A - and next time, it'll be a 6A. Unless I make enough for an Anaconda, in which case, 7A.

Z...

Iv got a 6A scoop on my Asp...BOY! does that mother suck in that trip juice really quick!

OP, may i suggest you take a trek to a nearby Nebula. Then using your newly bought DSS it'll pay for itself & more for your next trip.
Thats how i started off.

Also on the weapons point...i keep my weapons 'just in case'.
Yes it may shorten my jump range, due to the weight, but YEAH! i then explore more systems!!!

I set out for the coal sack, then came back cause of my lack, of DSS and repair modules.

I sold all my weapons, and maxxed my ship for exploration, drove my ship into the sun, and barely had enough to cover the insurance on that mistake, sorry for my own sake, if I had kept my weapon, then I would have been done, not enough, to rebuff, the cost of my stuff.

I am back in my adder, 30k differnce from a hauler, but the view is smaller? it has the class of a fully rigged asp.

wouldnt know for myself, but I would assume.

Also venturing into the black, but I kept my weapons ... going Thargoid huntin...

I thought about camping out at Sgr A* with a fully combat-ready Asp and a Frameshift Interdictor. Not that I'd actually kill any of our fine explorer friends... but it would be fun to put the fear of God into them for a minute.
