Feel like i'm making too few credits for the massive gap between my next ship upgrade...

What's the rush? If you don't like doing what you're doing, do something else. If you don't like flying what you're flying, fly something else.

Grab a Cobra, go exploring. Grab a Viper, go pew-pew. Don't grind, if you can't find ways to enjoy yourself now, odds are you won't find them in a bigger / more expensive boat.

I've not grinded profits (well, OK, for about a couple of hours in a T7 then thought what the hell am I doing?) since launch, been sitting in a Python for about 10 days now. Just my two cents, take it or leave it.

All the best commander!

Type 6 to Asp to Type 7 isn't TOO bad.
But there is no real good option for a trading ship between the Type 7 and Type 9 ...and there is a huuuuge difference between $20M and $70M !!

There is mate. The Clipper. In which one can do a bit of combat as well (apparently :)). I think the multiroles are the spine of this so-called 'ship progression', not commodity grinders.

T6 trading is not worth it. Grab a viper or a vulture (max 20mio) and go do RES hunting. Bored? Go visit a conflict zone. Still bored? Pick up a quest and chase down a pirate.
Still bored? Sell it with almost no loss and grab an asp, fly around for a week, explore the space. Or be a pirate, stay within the jump range of a black market and go grab some stuff, vulture is perfect for this (enough cargo space, enough jump range, really great in combat and fast enough if you actually have to run - and with up to 1mio buyback its not so expensive).
Right now i do only RES, i get up to 2mio. per hour (depends on the luck with the numbers and spawn rates).
Trading will bring you more money than bounty hunting once you can carry around more than 200T. Right now you make more with bounty hunting than a T6 can bring you even on a good route.

Honestly.. it sounds like the gameplay is what is starting to bore you.

My advice: drop 2.5 mil on a good Viper, start hitting RES sites. It changes up the gameplay, and you make a lot of money towards that T7.

Do not think about the ship.

Do what you enjoy to do.

First of all you should hqve different ships for different purposes.
Upgrade to an Asp, it is better in everything than the T-6. Then maybe buy a Viper for fighting.

Do exploration, trading, play the background simulation, and do some bounty hunting or fighting in combat zones.

Do things you enjoy doing. The money will come all by itself. Do not focus on earning credits. Focus on doing stuff. Playing the game. Throw in a community goal every now and then for that extra million.

You'll be in a Type-7 pretty fast.

Do something different.

It is a balance of working towards a goal, and the thrill of achieving verses the actual doing. If the grindy-ness of the doing is not offset by the desire to meet the next milestone, time to put the objective on the back burner for a while.

I always owned a cheap Viper with my Type 6 to alternate play styles.
As some have said rare runs are good.
I made 12Mcr in about a week out of a trading community goal in my type 6, these are good fun and often bring roleplaying and danger to break up the grind of trading. Got me into the Asp, so I could sell the Viper. Have a look at the community goal thread, see if something interests you.

Seems odd that that you dont like the grind to get to the next ship as its too much so wont a ship thats more reasonable priced. Only then will you be happy to grind to the next ship.

Here lies the problem. Why are you thinking you will like the grind in a new ship? Yes you will feel like you are progressing but your enjoyment wont change.

As others have said try different. Things. Now bounty hunting is really profitable. Still a grind just in a different way.

Rares are great. Slowly doing a circuit to get a 10-14 k profit per tonne payout feels nice. Do this in an asp and do bh on route makes it feel less of a grind.

Get a vulture. 10 mill is fine for pve and hit res. A good spawn will get you a couple of mill in an hour. Had an amazing 2.9 mill in hour yesterday.

Mix it up have fun else it wont get better in a new ship.

Variety is what you need Op. I used my Type 6 to 17 million for my Asp but I am a bit of a nut.

I could have easily outfitted something for bounties much sooner if only just to take breaks from trading.

This. Alpha trading is no longer the only viable route to high end trading.

I started as a bit of a wanderer, trading and exploring as I moved further out from my spawn point. I then traded rares for a bit and eventually took my T6 out for deep exploration. I am now back and with 10Million saved up have settled down in a system on the edge of populated space. I am in a Cobra with a 42t cargo hold. I have identified some good trade routes - 1 jump at 2.8k round trip and after I have done a few legs, I go off and do some BH. Only just ventured into that and find it quite good therapy after the routine of trading. I did all my research by visiting the stations, snapshotting the commodity data and building up a spreadsheet. I update this after each visit as I have noticed that prices are changing (for the worse) so may need tochange the commodity as the supply dimishes. I get really disappointed if the round trip is less than 2.4k Cr. I aspire to an Asp and I will do a long rares round robin soon and then maybe another deep exploration. I am not bored with the game and I havn't even gone into wings or rank progression and still have to think of all the new stuff 1.3 will bring us. I for one am thinking I have got my moneys worth from this game.

I forgot to mention, I even look forward to getting interdicted now that I have some combat experence - mind you when I have 42t of palladium on board I usually just get the hell out of there!
