Combat zones with cap ships seem like a waste of time?

Lucifer, why are you defending the current mechanic. It stinks. Period.

I have screen shots of a CS beaming a ship at 4+KM which as far as I know is way beyond any player ships range.
And I have sat 10k out and watched a cap ship tag and kill every opfor ship in the entire zone.

It's not even a debate or argument, a Cap ship will shoot everything around endless with more range and firepower then any ship we fly.

When it shows up, just leave.

Honestly I have found nothing else worth defending in the way things are in this game. Believe me if I could get a refund or sell my account would be happy to leave it. But the way they had the cap ship before made it exploitable by solo and group and completely unfair to open players. The current method stopped the exploit and helped with balance between modes.

Anyone care to throw up a video of what's going on?

Last time I flipped a system (about 2 weeks ago), there was a capship on my side, and every single ship I attacked, I got credit for killing (e.g received a combat bond). The only time the capship ever "killstole" from me was when I attacked something at ~10% health, so I'm honestly yet to see where the problem is...

EDIT: Also, fwiw, I fly a vulture with gimballed pulse lasers.

Hi Jmanis,

As I noted I had a lot more luck than the Vultures as I has some multi-cannon.
Can you remember what your load out was?

Conflict Zones seem like a waste entirely. I spent a good 15 minutes singlehandedly taking down a 'conda only to get 36k... I normally get 90-200k in about 5 minutes when helping take one down in RES'.

If your after pure profit then CZs are not the place for you. I fight in them a lot, but I do so for the fun of the battle and to try and expand the influence of the Alliance. Not for the money.

^^ This. I'll admit, with powerplay coming, I'm holding off the politicking for now, but before that I was all about expanding the glory of the empire, not the bank. I'll go to RES if I need cash, but CZ for racking up kills for ranking, and influencing system control.

I actually never saw people afk on a capital ship though i do llay exclusively in open. Persoanally i think all kills should only be alloted to the person who does the most hull damage. Or a wing. Easy to implement fair and cool. Last hit encourages griefing. Last night i was in a combat one with one vulture, plenty of targets.... but he still kept flying in to get last hits on my targets. Really bizarre behaviour.

I doubt the people that cap-sat would do so in an environment where another player could potentially come along and gun them down.

Ignore him Carg, he is just trolling. You are correct. The system implemented now is useless. It was a quick fix and not very thought out.

I went to a high intensity combat zone, joined the feds, and a single cap ship warped in on the fed faction.
The independent faction had no cap ship, and was outnumbered 3 to 1 by the fed ships.

I would say 80% of my kills gave me no credit. So much fire was coming from that cap ship that I barely got any credit, even on ships that I got down to 20-10% from 100%.
I thought NPCs weren't supposed to steal kills from players?

After 25 minutes I had only earned 100,000 credits. I was making way more then that in a RES.

Not impressed at all with the combat zone. Much easier ways to make money for me.

Same here it is a nice show. But now the capital ship get most of the kills meaning no money to be made. You can thank the people who camped the capitol ship for free kill and credits.

I was thinking about this today.

Given that the success in a warzone is measured in combat bonds cashed in, surely the change now means that cap ships effectively hinder the side they're allied with?

It would have been better to have had the cap ship attack any vessel that hovered near it.

Interesting point

I lost precisely two kills out of about two hundred to the capital ship last week. I have the video to prove it.

Trade-ish Python with five pulse lasers.

I just stayed away from the capital ship and used it as cover when I started to lose control of the situation.

It worked admirably.

It does that too now, friendly or foe, with 1Km you get fired on.

Maybe they've tweaked it's behaviour since the last patch. I haven't seen a Cap since the week they made the change.

Fighting in CZ? Waste of time, you'll make more money trading.
Bounty Hunting? Waste of time.
Exploring? Waste of time.
Flying a small ship? Waste of time.
Enjoying the sight? Waste of time.
Playing the game? Waste of time. You could just hire a chinese, he would play the game for much less than 50 EUR and would be better at it.

"- When getting close to a capital ship while neutral, it will warn you at ~1KM away and then turn hostile at a few hundred metres"

You could always fight away from the cap ship so it's not stealing kills. They don't have an infinite range, as far as I can tell. Or just blow them up faster. I hear aiming for the power plant helps with that.

thing is the "spawn" is near the cap ship, so the "juicy" targets (condas/ python) get destroyed within the cap range, netting you next to nothing, all you have are the leftover eagles / vipers / cobras worth nothing

yup, everything is now balanced, since everything suck, but hey, everything suck EQUALLY so that's good

so basically this thread wants something that was changed due to being considered an exploit (especially by solo and group players) added back in.. Good luck with that

that's what you get when you use a lazy solution to an exploit.....

Bye then.

The vocal minority that were upset that a few people were taking advantage of easy kills have ruined the fun of flying with a cap ship for everybody. So now they are happy and they have nothing to say. I avoid capital ships now, complete waste of time to fly with one as cool as it is. Or was.

Really gutted with what they have done to Capital Ships. Back in beta I found the FNS Farragut parked alongside Sol. I had a really good time cruising and nosing around it, admiring all the Dev work that had gone into it! Recently I have gone fully over to the dark side of the Imperium. I had never seen an Imperial Interdictor up close. Today I tried to get a closer look at one: It was just parked up (not in a combat zone)....I persisted in being a rubber-necking tourist..... Bad mistake!! .

What the hell have the team done to this element of the game by removing the close (even peaceful) close interaction with a major element (even from an eye-candy perspective)?????????? Madness. Just to placate a few whiners!!
