[Exploration] Most efficient way of handing in cartography data in order to increase standings with major faction X?

I know that handing in the data increases at least my standings with the local faction on the station, and thereby I assume the associated major faction as well. Is there an upper limit to this, in other words, should I sell data until I see something (what?) and then move to another station and continue the process?

Interested to know a bit more about this myself, since i am on the way home from a long trek.

From what I know, while you still see the rep arrows going up you can still increase your standing, but I also heard that this doesn't update immediately, so logging in and out should update it, same with rank upgrades. I might be wrong on this but recall reading about it somewhere in the forums.

I assume that moving around after reaching Allied with a faction is the best course of action to maximise your rep gain.

Hand in approx 5.5million worth of data to minor factions aligned with your major faction. Doing so gets them from neutral to allied. Ranking in the major factions is best accomplished by being allied with as many aligned minor factions as possible. Once you are allied with a minor faction, don't do anything further for them as it will contribute little to no rep after that
