Favorite Ganks

My favorite is hearing over comms that a combat logger from a group I hung out with before was nearby. Ganking his trade Anaconda when he tried to leave the station, twice, with cargo. Priceless.

I also notice a fair bit of forum goers who like to have a bit of a vocal dislike for overly-aggressive players. The problem isn't their playstyle. It's how these people look at the aggressive players. If you picture the aggressor as a big bully behind a computer screen... That's what you're going to see. If you choose to be Elite, you picture your opponent as another pilot in the verse that you have to fight to outwit for victory. There's more fitting options than "Highest Jump Range". An un-complex naming system is hiding a deviously complex fitting system and I think a lot of pilots that are getting ganked aren't really taking advantage of the tools provided.

I don't gank, I'm all for "live and let live". When I meet a CMDR I greet them and leave them alone.

Well not everybody is going around murdering everybody they see. I spend plenty of time not shooting other players. It's just that this is a thread about ganks you personally enjoyed, and not a platform for people to hold hands and grieve over lost ships. Staying on topic, I had the rare chance to gank somebody in a less-than-perfect anaconda. No huge hardpoint, shields were super weak, felt good blowing that to dust.

It's been discussed a zillion times. It should be like that, but due to some untuned aspects of the game it isn't. It's easy to gank and there's no punishment. It's more like a toddler taking a toy from another toddler at a kindergarten. It's just irritating for all involved and nobody really learns anything new.

PS my favourite gank is looking for people who attack commanders with tiny bounties and ramming them.

You want Gank? TRULY evil?

Equip a nasty fighter... Python, 'conda... heck, even a fully fleshed out Vulture would do...

Make sure you have guns that require no ammo, an inerdictor and a scoop. Fly to Sag A. Kill everyone who comes in system. I mean, how many exploring folks, like myself, go out without shields and guns?

Yeah, it will take a while to get there. Yeah, you may be there for a bit waiting for the next Commander to show. But when you blow someone out of the sky with ALL that data lost? HA! Hilarity ensues.

:D

There are punishments for ganking. You could lose the fight and die, looking really stupid. You might engage somebody in claimed space and have the police drive you off. Hell you get bounties which encourage players shooting you on sight for ganking in claimed space, or your victim can even combat log. Saying there aren't any repercussions for violencing other commanders is silly.

I'd advise that you stop playing this like wow, stop grinding space bux, and try having some fun. Go shoot a player, ruin somebody's day, learn what it means to pvp before you act like shooting dudes who sit still is what we log on for. I don't mean this towards a specific person, just as an experienced Eve online guy I find it detestable how many people complain about pvp in a spaceship game called ELITE: DANGEROUS. Hint: Dangerous is in the name of the game, and the NPCs don't provide it.

But when you blow someone out of the sky with ALL that data lost? HA! Hilarity ensues.

See I use less effort to do this; just sit outside of a CG RES and gank people turning in bounty vouchers. Far less effort on your part for an equal or greater amount of rage.

Would only happen once. Then the explorers heading that way go to solo. I would do all my long range exploration in solo, regardless, since I would be completely risk averse to losing my ship at that point.

A lot of explorers stick to open anyway for the high res screen grabs (at least I do :))

Ahhh, but Radio Sidewinder reports that there is a race from Sol to Sag A. Has to be in Open. Perfect time to show off the danger in Elite DANGEROUS.

I'm not sure what my favorite was its between being jumped by a gank wing destroyed one sent one packing with his hull at 30%, nice to see them running. Saw off 2 ASPs in a viper then a python that was fun.

But the best was the FDL station rammer who couldn't wrap his head round the concept that my vulture could outmaneuver him easily and tried to get round that by using boost assisted ram attacks. He was so focussed on trying to ram me he missed that I used side thrust to reposition so the station was at my back. He went splat.
