Thoughts about danger, NPC behaviour and these pirate factions

Kill the npc's thrusters and leave them in space without killing them.

That's how you can avoid the bounty.

Kind of hard if the Clipper is reverse fighting you to kill the thrusters. Wing NPCs mostly flee if the wing leader (usually the biggest ship) gets destroyed.

Anyway, I think all NPCs should have some sense for self preservation and try to get out of the fight if it appears to be lost.

Like the npc sidewinders with no shields that attack my vulture. Very realistic. :D

It does scale tho. I noticed if you are 'more wanted' than unusual they send better and bigger ships. The AI does try and counter us. A bit like the haulers, they always turn their cargo hatch away from us to protect their cargo.

NPC could do with a little polish and its getting there.

I would say it's getting there too. My combat ranking just got to Expert and I was interdicted by a wing of 3 Clippers - not seen before. I get the impression that the RNG IS based on your personal status.
I've not been wanted for a while so I can't comment :-(

Yeah, listening... taking notes... ;)

If were going to make attacking npc players more dangerous, (harder to kill) then the combat ranking scoring system should be adjusted to maintain the balance. Otherwise newer players would rightly claim that older players who achieved a combat ranking of lets say 'Dangerous' did it far more easily than they can now do it after Power Play was released, this would be unfair on all the players so I hope the games balance will be maintained in line with any change's to making A1 opponent's tougher and smarter.

I'm not quite sure how the AI works these days... and to be honest I don't miss the 'get interdicted every 30 seconds' days, but I never get interdicted anymore. Maybe it's because my ranking/ship have upgraded, but sheesh. It's never. ever.

Ok yes, I do work out on an outer rim, but regardless, sometimes something should happen.

And yes, I play in open, always have but my first couple days when I was still figuring out how to pilot a ship, even say hello if I see another CMDR. But seriously, NPC interdictions just never happen anymore.

It's a terrible thing to 'complain' about, and I am not asking to go back to being interdicted 3 times between a star and a station 200ls away, but once in a while in a sensical manner would be fine.

Well, no. It would not be unfair because the ranking does not give any advantage whatsoever. All being ranked Dangerous/Deadly/Elite does, is let other players know that you have spent a lot of time in combat (which will still be true). So.. no it would not be unfair in any way. It might be a bit misleading though.

Honestly I would not care if they balanced me down to ..say.. Expert. But that would not make the next Novice Viper pilot who attacks me because he mistakes my Ferdie for a Hauler survive any longer :D

Just making the point that introducing stronger npc players could make achieving the next combat ranking more difficult for players than it has been for those who have atready achieved that ranking. Increasing the credit rating for destroying a new stronger npc players ship would address that balance.

Back on topic a little... interesting to read responses. So, are people finding that pirate factions call their bbuddies whilst in trouble or do they just wait until the faction hates you?

What are people's thoughts on whether pirate factions should put out a contract on you if you kill a few of them?

I think all factions behave similar.
It just that we get into more trouble with pirates, ie we bounty hunt them.

If I attack security forces, soon they send bigger ships and better rated pilots. Then you'll see eventually an anaconda flying around and wings and they constantly interdict me.

Same with pirates. I've seen pirate anaconda's on patrol in a system I was working.
