Ships The Official Vulture Haters Club

Two BFGs slapped on an FSD. A GT-R exempt from VAT. LMAO without the L, and the O. Keanu Reeves without Neo. Yo.

Ladies and gentlemen, the Vulture, and why we hate it!

yes..I own a vulture..nasty fellow..I hate it with all my heart...but it scares me..I hear it in the bay, plotting my demise..luring me into dangerous areas and against ever more perilous odds..afraid to sell it as it may come back and kill me in my sleep...vultures are quite vindictive types.
Likely will be the death me..indeed my little red death machine the "honey badger" despicable.

Don't really like the big lumps of metal that obscure the cockpit view, what are they for anyway? ramming? or was the Vulture a tug in a previous life and used these to nudge big ships into dock and then they slapped on an FSD................ ;)

As I posted in the Vulture appreciation thread, but appropriate nonetheless:

"Always flown by folks with bad tempers. Pilots always frowning, never smile."

— Commander Luciano Prestigio Giovanni on Vulture pilots (Elite: Reclamation).

You mean that Hannibal Lecter mouthpiece? Probably just bull bars, although not sure how they help in ramming - just put 4 pips to shields and a ramming spree it is.

I really have to stop comparing the abominable craft to the likes of Hannibal Lecter. It implies the ship has some kind of character, personality if you will, but it has about as much of those things as a fridge.

Never smile? Have you flown 1 of these things?

Nothing like dancing threw a CZ spinning and blasting around your targets wile listning to a clasic italian opera. (Rammstein works as well ;) )

Hm. Matching ships with songs, eh?

Rammstein would work well with a Viper in my ears. 'Der Meister' with that race car fury-spitting rumble, mmm! Classical music matches a fully turreted Anaconda in a warzone. Imagine, on that bridge, Verdi, or even Bach blasting away. And you, eyes closed, 'conducting' the laser concerto.

As far as the Vulture is concerned, it took me a while but I found a match for it, too. Instrumental versions of Backstreet Boys singles. So the lyrics don't spoil the distinctive meh-ness with their infuriating content.

Not really though, i got a FDL now and play the same music, althouhg you could say the FDL is more suited for a wals.(even got some videos of it, just no editing tools)

The backstreat boys? Realy ... Thats just wrong... But thats why i like the clasical music... Its just so wrong murdering whith that calming music... So decadent, like using caviar as a chip dip :p

But we'r hyjacking the OP's thread.

What i hate about the Vulture is that for me it made the Viper i loved so mutch obsolete.
I keept looking for a excuse to keep my Viper, but sentimental valeau is the only excuse left.

I get why people dislike the vulture, but people will always dislike the best value combat ship, meaning the one that hits the hardest and you can afford to replace. Before vulture it was viper people disliked. Personally I think maybe the vulture needs a little bit of tweaking, tweaked internal space perhaps? not sure, that said, If people think is too powerful combat wise, then maybe power capacitor needs to be brought down a little by one class? reducing the outpot a bit?

Big guns but power issues....
Great manouverabilty but slow to chase AND to escape....
Wouldn't want it any other way or we'd all be saving up for one.
I love it..... and I love the endless module and weapon variations you are forced to experiment with to 'get it right'.
A most rewarding as well as 'banging head against wall' experience.
Viva El Vulture!!!!

Erm nope, I cannot recall any general dislike of Viper in recent times. In fact before the Vulture, it was more like "I prefer Viper" - "I prefer Cobra" - "I prefer Asp" - "I prefer Clipper" etc.. Now many of these people have gravitated to the Vulture, and what remains are those who a) can't afford it yet but will ditch their Cobra/Viper in an instant once they have the funds for a Vulture, b) people who keep these ships for various reasons (nostalgia, wanting to be more multi-role oriented), often in addition to also owning a Vulture, c) people who genuinely dislike the Vulture as a matter of taste (e.g. the visuals, sound, some less tangible other detail about the ship), and finally d) people who dislike the Vulture because it is a genuine flavour of the month cookie cutter choice. Oh and e) people who use an FDL instead of a Vulture.

Word, commander.

Let me make clear that there's no 'hipsterism' in me having developed almost medical hatred towards the damned thing. I flew it for just over a week. Not only it's ugly, it's characterless. It's this dull, beige BMW 3 series, or a Honda Accord which, unquestionably, is an amazing value for money, it's surprisingly fast, it's infinitely reliable, it's immaculately built, it's everything you want from a good car. And that's why it's boring. It's boring beyond boring!
_
Viper made me sweat and cower before Elite Anacondas. Cobra took some properly long-haul rare trade routes with style and grace. Sidey turned me into a smuggler, Eagle into a fighter. Dropship made me laugh drifting uncontrollably in a RES mayhem. Asp took me on a jaw-dropping 40-day haul to Sagittarius A* and back. Python made me what I am and what I was, admittedly, working towards in Elite. A nomad.
_
The Vulture, though? Nothing. I have nothing to love it for, nothing to hate it for. And that's why I hate it. Makes sense?
_
Should you feel that I am a bit nuts, rest assured that I am not. I am thoroughly, entirely, completely, utterly nuts! And I'm not afraid to use it :D

I fly a Vulture and I love it. I do however have a rule for the old bird. I always used fixed weapons. Otherwise it just isn't that much fun, gimbals make it too easy to take out systems. However with the fixed beam lasers and a good going conflict zone it's brilliant fun.
.
Also remember the wise words of this urban poet:
.
Players gonna play, play, play, play, plaaayyy
Haters gonna hate, hate, hate, hate, haatteee
I'm just gonna shake, shake, shake, shake, shaaakee
Shake it off, shake it off, ooohhhhooo
.
Thank you for those wise words Miss Taylor Swift...

Fixed guns (used dual beam) on that thing are still boring. Gimbals are pure sacrilege.

I tried the Vulture, and very quickly went back to a Viper. I don't personally enjoy having a ship where you have to leave piles of spots empty because it's so hard to get the power to run everything. I'm sure plenty of people adapted to the power issues, but for me I like having lots of tools and options on my boat. And my personal preference for space combat is for pure firepower then durability before manoeuvrability.

It just didn't suit me. Although I did like that someone on this forum said it kinds of looks like the ThunderTank, hahaha. :D

The Vulture is fine. It's the other small fighters that are pathetic by comparison, and need buffed.

Eagle - Speed and power plant upgrade

Cobra - better gun placement, gun placement is horrible

Viper - better power plant and also better gun placement, not much better than the cobra.

Why are the best guns put in bottom back where they are only optimal for reverse turret fire? Are these ships designed for fleeing superior craft?
