I'm at work atm but I noticed when doing a trade run near Sol that one of the export locations was a system called "SINGLELIGHTTEST" which doesn't appear on the Galaxy Map. I took a screenie and it may be completely irrelevant but I'm going out on the razz tonight so I'll dig it out tomorrow.

We believe the model of the artifact in the video is the real one, legit.

It's in the game files.

And Michael made a comment saying, "it's creative but not approved."

What about the sound? Also was that comment about the original video, or the people posting about game files to check it?

Thanks :) Took a quick look on the galaxy map, and California Sector HW-W C1-7 is miles out...think that might be a red herring, maybe Leonard Nimoy needs checking out first - why is it important it gets there of all places? Sadly I'm nowhere near LN station :(

Im already on my way there, will report in as soon as i arrive.

So I've listened to that over and over, and apart from the obvious likeness to a large metal door creaking when opening and closing - I can't make head or tail of it. The pitch and order of the different 'notes' is reminding me of something though - but I can't quite place it, nearest thing I can think of is when big ben strikes the hour

EDIT: Just read above ^^^ Oh damn it, is the sound not legit?

Supposedly....the model is legit but I think we're all on the edge with the sound.

Until one of us finds one we won't know, or if the guy let's someone confirm it is an Unknown Artifact.

OK - things we think we know so far:

(in spoiler tags as there are book references etc)

  1. Thargoids Exist
  2. Thargoids haven't been seen for AGES
  3. Thargoids are mentioned in KR's excellent book as trying to hide their homeworld
  4. AI is banned throughout human space
  5. Thargoids "use" AI in KR's excellent book
  6. Thargoids have been confirmed as being in part of the game at some point
  7. Alien Tech has been mentioned in Galnet
  8. AI has been mentioned in Galnet
  9. There's a mysterious plague on a locked planet that may or may not be related to anything
  10. DB has confirmed that there are "non stellar objects" out there for us to discover IN ADDITION to the Voyager probes - no direct connection to Thargoids
  11. MB has suggested we "listen" to whatever it is we find
  12. Nav beacons morse code their system
  13. Black boxes morse code something (I think it is to do with returning them)
  14. There's a reference of "something" being in a certain direction in Drew Wagar's cracking book as well

Initial conclusions/guesses
  1. DB and MB may be talking about different things
  2. It could be something utterly Alien and not at all related to Thargoids
  3. If listening to the Unknown thingy gives the response "SOON" (with or without TM), Michael is going to get either lynched or lauded. Not sure which.

I really like the plague idea - we'd be spreading it ourselves. Imagine if that were true and someone took one to Founders World, or Lave??? That'd shake up the markets.
Could there possibly be an alien faction out of the 20 we will be seeing? If so - could we be on the verge of having "in-game events" in preparation for major patches that introduce things?
Do we see a story we can participate in on the horizon - the proverbial "furniture" for the empty house that DB was talking about during the Kickstarter and testing phases?

Excited much? Almost as much as when I was told there were Generation Ships and Missions in the original Elite (despite never having found any, seen any proof, or in fact there being any at all). Hooray.

Do not look if you are still playing FFE.
" Advisors from the Thargoids have further offered that those involved could be given 'intensive training courses' on Thargoid technology, philosophy and history to allow them fully to integrate in the new mixed species society. " Taken from Universal Scientist 15 May 3255.
Is this why in 3301 the powers that be (in game) want Thargoids relegated to legend? :D

LOL Steve :D No, don't think that's it - just providing the answer.
.
Maybe some merit in an NPC called Ishamel in a T7 in/around LN station, some NPCs seems to spawn regularly in certain areas. But as said earlier not sure there's anything in that video at all, and nothing to tie it to anything learnt so far.

Yeah, wasn't necessarily aiming that at you. It's always good to follow any leads though, you never know. ;)

Ishmael. This quest is becoming a bit of a white whale for a lot of people... :)

I just saw this comment on the reddit weekly Q&A discussion regarding Thargoids.

Going to spoiler it since I don't know if it's from the books or something.

Basically they just disappeared. It's rumoured that some shadowy human agency infected them with a plague that stopped their biological hyperdrives functioning and effectively cut their systems off from each other.

But no one had any luck in that system requiring a permit with the quarantined due to plague planet? :(

Yes, that happened in FFE.

But we don't know what, if anything, from previous games is canon in the one, right?
