There's a moon in Peregrina that has been quarantined due to toxicity levels. There's also mention of Aliens in the system's description. Unknown artifact, Toxic, Aliens in description. Seems to fit the bill for a good match.

The moon is a water Earth like world named Undine:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Undine

As you can see it references water nymphs or water creatures.

The planet it orbits is named Eurynomous:

Draw your own conclusions. :)

If you go out there I would record the planets sounds as well as reference.

Dang, man, I wish I could have been part of this. But I'm 20KLY away en route to SagA.

... of course the way you nutters are bumbling around 20,000 light years might not be far enough for my liking ;)

I'm also going to throw this out there, now that we've found one it may seem a little backwards to try. Has anyone shot one up? It seems like if they stay at 1% permanently, there's only one way to see what destroying one does...

I'm having a blast reading this thread, and wish I was in the cockpit rather than my office right now :)

I've got plenty of software toys for audio, as I do a lot of recording when I have the time, so I'll gladly have a look at any audio and see what I can find.

However, I'm treading into this without trying to get my hopes up too far. The audio team has indeed done an incredible job on this game - some of the most immersive stuff I've ever come across. However, I confess I'd be suprised (most pleasantly mind you!), if there is a hidden message in the audio at all.

To that point: any message from an alien race, hidden or otherwise, and intended to be received by another species, I'd expect to be in mathematics, no? If the tones in the audio are indeed a clue/message, I'd start trying to link it to a base number system such as binary, or perhaps another base we haven't considered. I think someone in this thread has already touched on that, but I'm skimming while at work. My apologies if you folks are already on this.

Firstly congrats guys!.
I have just been doing missions around 78 UM for the Alioth permit, and one of the stations (mind fails me sorry) had a mission to hand one over.
Maybe handing one into the scientists would help?.

Are you certain it wasn't an Ancient Artefact? They pop up as mission targets all the time.

I don't feel safe going far with my artifact as I do not think I will get far with it...... 2 systems at max before going to a station which I will have to avoid getting scanned.

I managed to grab one of the duplicates from Red Wizzard and took it to Peregrina.
However, doesn't seem to be anything of significance here.
Nothing of interest on the bulletin boards on either station, nothing on the commodities listing and the black market on Talos 2 is only asking for about 174k Cr.

On the subject of permits, I don't think it does anything, at least directly.
I don't have any new permits added to my list and (from the galaxy map) systems like Polaris and the Regor systems are still inaccessible.

Going to see how much I'm offered for the item at He Bo and at Leonard Nimoy Station.

Again, if you mean the part at the start of that clip - I'm afraid that's the ship's computer saying "cargo scoop deployed" etc.

lol...okay. it was just my first thought to play it reverse. well, nevermind.

anyhow, there is a mention on page 124 by cosmos showing a beat finder of audacity. it's shouldn't be that easy, i should have know it. :)

The data export gives what seem to be x and y co-ordinates, but no z co-ordinates. And everything I tried with just x & y is within 60 LYs of Sol. :(
example..
-51.44756 -56.02743
-49.57243 -52.66002
-48.10563 -50.44409
-47.03694 -49.03845
-46.58853 -48.39680
-46.68977 -48.44364

Edit: This is using audacity by the way.
