Love my Vulture, but that thing is way too OP (PvE)

Decided to hit the High Intensity Conflict zone in Quivira, so I modified my Vulture for heavy conflict zone combat (doing Solo to maximize profit). Two Pulse lasers, Three A0 shield booster, and one C0 shield booster. Literally flying through that place with usually 2 pip in shield (with the occasional switching to 4 pip when selecting next target), and first shield ring NEVER even turn red. And I was pretty much just targeting Asp, Python, and Anacondas...Crazy.

I disagree the Vulture is not Over Powered, it's a decent midrange combat vessel but, it's also very slow for a dedicated fighter, and the Eagle has a better FSD jump range.

If you really want a challenge, repeatedly hit one RES until you make enemies.
Then see how you go when 5 ships immediately engage you on site. When those powerful shields go down you'll realise your hull is light weight.. (it's how you can have those class 3 and still manoeuvre)
Soon as your cockpit blows you'll be wishing you were in a faster ship. ;)

Don't get me wrong I love that Vulture but it's not as hardy as you think Commander.

[EDIT]: I forgot to mention juggling the power issues... Gah* I don't miss that at all.

Hehe funny you should mention that. Was constantly popping Wanteds in a RES using my new vulture and loving it. Then I went back last night and an anaconda attacks me then while fighting back suddenly 5 or 6 ships attacking me at the same time. Before I could get out, they were eating into hull fast. Survived and got interdicted twice, but made out safe eventually.

If you think CZ NPC are easy in a Vulture, wait till you're in a combat rated Python or Anaconda.

The true test is always combat with other Commanders.

The infinite dullness and boredom in chasing NPCs in a Vulture (honestly, Solitaire is more fun) aside, how much is a god-mode-kitted Vulture? And how much is a god-mode-kitted Python or Anaconda? Is it 'balance' that all three dominate any NPC battleground equally?

You can be cocky and fight 6 NPCs at the same time (and not die) in a Conda, you have earned the right. You're also risking a massive rebuy.
_
Vulture should be put back to 22 mil hull-only. Because I think if AI is pimped (another way to rebalance) to fight Vulture pilots, you won't stand a chance in any other boat, not even a 180 mil worth of Python.
_
I agree, there's still PvP. But my experience is, all PvP encounters are completely meaningless. It's not a career, you won't 'progress' anywhere with PvP only and you'll always have to resort to some form of PvE grind to lick your wounds. PvP is just a sausage-swing-fest who's the better pilot. It works very well in that aspect but it only works in that aspect.

Whoops, too long. Bottom line, the Vulture is too cheap :)

It more that NPCs a in general are to easy once your out of a Sidey. In an Anaconda it's laughable, I was flying one handed in a CZ the other days while eating snacks with the other, just mashing the fire button on my big lasers. Only had to pay attention once with a couple of angry rail equipped NPC Pythons, that was maybe 5 minutes out of 60. High ranked NPCs should be able push players to their limits, but that's way easier said than done without having the NPCs cheat.

Currently the only real test of your combat mettle is other players. Personally want to see much harder NPCs encounters, the current NPC farming zones really don't cut it. Raids against outposts, stations, tracking Pirate gangs etc - optional targets/missions that are very difficult to defeat.

Have to agree here. I have a Vulture and love it but it is far too easy to take on Elite NPC's and kill them so easily. A few times last night in a Zaonce RES I had my thrusters on 0% throttle and was taking out smaller ships in mere moments without even having to move, just nudge the lateral thrusters.
No idea what the best solution is. If the Vulture gets nerfed, people will cry. If NPC's get better AI, people will cry. If the Vulture is made more expensive, people will cry.

So where do I sign? :)

Vulture is pretty balanced. Great fighter, but no cargo slots (dont even try to carry more than 16, you need the space for banks etc), jump range, small fuel tank (3 max range jumps and you`re done), huge energy problems, limited to 2 hardpoints and the top speed with and without boost is too low for a medium size fighter. Should be 410 max boost with A thrusters. And the main problem - once the shield is down, you`re dead. Modules fall apart after 3-5 direct hits with medium weapons or higher energy weapons.
PvE is easy, NPC dont fight back, even the elite conda is not a problem for a vulture - if you have shield cell banks or if you can fly, you wont drop your shields below 50%.

I have a python now, it can carry way more firepower, has no energy problems, better range, bigger fuel tank and a ton of cargo space if you need it. And the best thing - your modules survive longer than your hull if you manage to cover them a bit.
Hunting in a python is too easy, condas fall apart before you can finish your capacitor, anything smaller than a cobra can be rammed without even scratching your shield. And it can fly pretty good for a ship that can carry up to 292T cargo or 5 weapons and huge shields.

Had the same happening to me yesterday. Those shields dissapear very quickly when attacked by 5-6 enemies at the same time. I survived, but got a lesson. :)

I agree, and it's power restrictions......its not OP'd

As Morbad already stated, you need to head into Open and take on other commanders.

When you come up against a decent player you will not consider your Vulture in any way OP I promise you.

In fact you will probably complain that its underpowered.

Of course it's OP, that's what caving to cries give you.

I don't have a clue what that means!! But having flown the Vulture about the same amount as a the Cobra, I would only say that the Vulture is the better ship, but with a base cost around 20 times as much that's only to be expected. The Vulture cannot be A-classed due to power limitations, and running away from a group of bigger, faster ships is hairy in a ship with such low top speed/boost. The shields are strong, but take a metric week to come back online if they're taken out. It's the best/only mid-price combat ship in the game, and it fills that role perfectly.
