This game is seems to be seriously flawed

So I have been playing mostly solo for several months until I acquired a Python and got it tricked out. Then I play in Open, and after trying to communicate with a certain cmdr in a type 7 who refused to acknowledge me on multiple occasions, I finally attacked him to try to get a response. After pouring everything I had into him for five minutes, there was absolutely no effect. How is that possible? I was hitting him with C3 cannons and pulse lasers almost continuously for the whole time, and the outer ring of his shields never even dimmed. ? Is he flying in GOD mode? Is the type 7 invincible or what?

I may be wrong but I seem to remember there being a bug where people would logout and leave a "ghost ship" behind that was invincible until the instance was reset. <- This may be complete rubbish but I think I read this somewhere.

Was he moving/turning at all?

Edit: Good news, apparently i'm not crazy yet, thanks guys :D

Yup - definitely a bug or a cheat. Most trade fitted T7's will lose shields in couple of seconds. Even with max shields and boosters, I can't imagine a T7 keeping its shields up for more than about 15 seconds sustained fire from even a couple of pulse lasers.

Did he disappear shortly after? People who pull their Internet cable stay in space for 10 seconds, during which they can not be harmed. They're not actually there but your game thinks they might be and tries to reconnect.

No he was just flying along...never paid the slightest attention to me.

No this went on for considerably longer than 10 seconds....

It's been a while, back during that first big community event. One of the few times I thought I'd try open.

I get to the zone, fighting stuff, and I run across a cobra just sitting there. I pull up behind it in my Cobra, ID it, run a scan....realize how odd it is he hasn't moved, so I put a couple rounds in him. I Flight Assist off around him, pop another round or two in him, trying to figure out what's up. Eventually, another cmdr came along and killed me. Heh.

So....yeah, must be some kind of 'ghost' after a player's PC crashes or something.

If that's the case it's unlikely to be combat logging. The longest I've seen the combat logging "ghost" was for about 20 secs.

Most likely it was connection issues, maybe your damage wasn't registering. Or cheating, type 7s are made of tissue paper, a python can take one out, with a sneeze. Even with max shields and 4 boosters, you'd be able to get through it's shields without breaking a sweat.

I have turned up at a station & seen a wingman slowly barrel rolling about 1K from the station... he was actually docked at the time, just not in the station in my instance.

Everything's fine, it's fine.

I've seen hacks do this. Usually players running this hack are very aggressive. I got attacked and rammed by a guy using this hack, we ended up getting 3 of my friends in a wing against him and recorded the fact that he took no damage for like 2 solid minutes on video, it was weird.

Something doesn't feel right in this post
.
If a player is in god mode why the hell choose a type 7?
.
If I am flying a type 7 I am doing one thing - trading- I wouldn't stand and fight in a crate with an engine attached Id be off like a rocket and boosting back out - I certainly wouldn't be sitting around for 5 mins
.
Hacker - Not likely
Bug - Possible
Made up - potentially

Agreed.

If this was a hacker then why put up with being attacked for such a long period? Why not just frameshift away, even if he did have an infinite shield cheat?

Yes...I agree. It must have been the "Ghost ship" phenomenon. It's the only thing that makes any sense. Also I think he must have pulled the plug before I even fired because I didn't get a wanted status. I would have gotten a wanted status if I actually hit his ship, right?
