Newcomer / Intro Adder cockpit layout

Does the asymmetry of the console view mess with anyone besides me? It feels a little disorienting for maintaining an even roll alignment, when navigating the mail slot.

I loved my adder.
But then I got my cobra, and loved it even more.

Hate the looks of my T6, but it still trades ok.

Adder was my second ship and I loved it. After the sidey I finally had a ship that has decent jump range, can haul and fight. Traded it for a cobra with decent equipment (~2 Million Credits) but still miss my little Adder.

Had no problem with the asymmetry. It is a 2-seat ship and you sit on the right side. Basically it's the same when driving a car (British one ;)).

The Adder isn't the only ship with an off-centre pilot position. You get used to them though.
The bigger issue with the Adder's cockpit is the restricted view.

I loved flying my Adder when I started trading rares, it did a good job. The Cobra then did it better. And then the Asp did it better again. The Python is never going to trade rares though. :)

Yeah - a little, but the only time I noticed was while docking or picking up salvage. Where I'd always tend to position the item/dock in the center of where 'I' was seated which I'd only notice when looking down at the instrumentation showing me off center. But it wasn't really an issue at all other than noticing it when I was doing it.

It takes a bit of getting used to as does the hard point placement but once you have flown in it for a while you forget all about it. The adder is a sweet little ship, pretty handy in combat and hauls enough cargo to get you started. Can be used as a starter exploration ship as well. One of my favourite ships in the game.

Didn't bother me as much as the limited window space... I ended up upgrading to a Cobra a day later since it bothered me not being able to see as much.

Recently upgraded to an Asp and I feel like I can see behind me. Kind of discomforting, though, because the cockpit is sticking so far out and half made of glass, lol.

How does the Asp compare with the Cobra?

Oh wow, the Adder is LH drive? Didn't know that - never flown one.

The Cobra is off-centre too because it's designed for two pilots (and FD have said they may plan to have co-op in the same ship at some point in the future - so that's exciting if it happens).

I love the view out of a Cobra though. I can't get used to anything else so far.

The Asp is ok. The engine sound in normal space is probably the best I have heard so far and the hardpoints really kick some. I may kit one out one day as a proper explorer but it's very expensive to do so...

I'm Cobra through and through at the moment. The only other ship I own is a vulture for when I am back in populated space for some combat. Exploring has been my mainstay for me. In the Cobra.

If I had to put a percentage to it, you probably have about 150% more view able space. There are windows above your head, slightly behind you and below your feet. It's amazing. You can spectate so much more than in the Cobra. It is listed as a two-seater, though, which is weird since you are centered in the cockpit. The other pilot's seat must be behind you.

There will be a time that I buy another ship but I will never sell mine Adder.
14KLy from Sol still going strong, I have give him the name stronghold.

The asp is a great ship. If you love your cobra you'll love the asp. It's multi purpose par excellance. Perfect for exploring (great jump range!); good at hauling (~same cargo space like the T6) and combat (4x Tier 1 weapons, 2x Tier 2 weapons; maneuverability = ok). And really great view angle, almost 180° left/right and up/down.
