14 Years ago I wrote a message in A.F.E saying that I would be making some updates in the near future which would include transferring the Encyclopaedia to an SQL database so that members of the community can add more articles, and help keep it updated. When Elite IV became vapourware and GalNet started to die off, I didn't bother...
In the cosmic scale of things 14 years may be the blink of a Zeeszean gnats eye, but its quite a stretch for a web admin, lol.
Anyway here it is, the new Encyclopaedia Galactica, the most comprehensive source of everything in the Elite universe in one neat webpage.
I must admit I am having some issues with 'lore consistency' due to things changing so much from sequel to sequel ! but I have taken the approach of using the more senior source as the most authoritative one in such circumstances.
Also whilst I wanted the project to be completely open so we can all submit articles, I have had some issues already with people posting daft/abusive content to the site, because of this I have now had to implement site registration.
Please make sure that all posts are true and accurate, and you must state a source for your articles. The Galactica is for genuine Elite Lore, only enter information on things that either actually exist in the game or are referenced in official literature.
Oh, yeah, I almost forgot to mention. At this point I have only copied information on Elite Lore from the previous encyclopaedia, and that means it only has articles going up to around 3255 or something. Although I will add some articles myself from time to time, it will largely be up to the community to add Elite Dangerous articles and keep it updated from 3255 onward.
