Viper is the slightly better for combat if for nothing else than it's more efficient hardpoint placement, plus it's insurance is much cheaper.

Plus, it's engine noise is way cooler ;)

i dont agree. the mustang noise of the cobra is outstanding and gives me goosebumbs everytime ;)

If you're pulled over by a player pirate and you run even when you have no cargo you're more likely to die.

The best bet is to say you have no cargo and then stop completely and let the pirate scan you, if you have no or low cost cargo (no pirate is going to scoop copper) most of us will let you go. I've lost track of the amount of people I've had to shoot out their drives and cause millions of credits worth of damage to who decided to run instead of stopping for a scan when they had no/low cost cargo.

Good point, I will remember that for the future - just out of interest do many players bother with interdictions to make credits?

Most player pirates do it for the fun but most of the time it's combat loggers and abuse. You can make money doing it but the support from the in game mechanics make it really hard since most of the time you can escape an interdiction within a minute. You also have to spend a ton of time scooping cargo which will dissapear after a set time as well but hopefully with drones this will be easier. That's why player pirates will kill/shoot drives from anyone running away or opening fire.

Even with dead drives I'll only give a ship 5 seconds to respond and drop cargo before I kill them due to the amount of people combat logging. This isn't to be malicious it's simply piracy only works under threat of death and if you can't back up that threat then it won't work in future. In a cobra it should be impossible for you to be killed though as you can submit to interdiction then your boost speed can out run pretty much everyship in the game and jumping to a different system negates mass lock.

These are the main reasons why pirates kill fast as there's no in game incentive to give your target time to chat and haggle.

Hopefully 1.3 will address that.
