I was sooooo boooorrreeeeeddddd flying home to Sol, that I actually popped into the Elite Dangerous forum on Steam (*gasp!*).

And I was surprised as heck that no one there knew anything about Buckyball events. Not a single thread, I searched.

So, like a helpful guy I am, I posted a link there for BBRA :)

You're welcome, Z.

Oh, great. There goes the neighborhood. ;)

I posted a few times on the Steam board but thanks to lightspeed turnover and the inability to post links over there I haven't been touting it much. Maybe after getting the Steam key (soon to be provided by FD, thanks guys!) I'll start posting the leaderboard over there. But in the meantime, thanks for having my back, F2, as usual. ;)

Hahaha.. well Steam doesn't allow images in their forum posts... so your leaderboards will have to be done via text. At best we can just post links for them to come over here to have a look.

I wonder if I could include Esvandiary's DO NOT DEVIATE video in the forum... hmmmmm

All right, all right, all right!

So far this week has seen five new CMDRs achieve galactic glory! CMDR Max Jacobs in his asp HMS Endeavour and CMDR IronLich in the asp Odessa II both cracked the top ten. The feat was doubly amazing for IronLich who encountered a spontaneous, catastrophic system failure in the Odessa I less than 1200 light years from Sadge and found himself awakening inexplicably on Galileo Station some 23,000 light years back of his previous position. Lich took it in stride, painted the number 2 on his replacement ship and got right back into the black. I don't know if we should be impressed or concerned for his sanity, but either way, congratulations on making it to the middle!

This week also saw the first Lakon Type-7 pull into Sag A* space in the form of Ekol Tieja's Space Whale, completing the run in multiple stages for a 48 hour time and completing Buckyball Bingo Lakon Spaceways edition. Those endorsement checks from Lakon should be coming in any day now. ;)

And finally, we had a private race underway that the pilots involved weren't aware of. CMDRs Khol and Alex Rider both departed Galileo on the same day and took leisurely routes to Sadge in their own way, to both some in 14 days later less than 10 hours apart. CMDR Khol's Asp WA*sted DA*ys snuck past Rider's Asp HMS Lightly Toasted and the two only missed each other by 10 hours. Now the two of them just need to race back.

CMDRs Jacobs, Lich, Tieja, Khol and Rider: your pips are on the board and your bumper stickers in the mail! Well, they will be tomorrow. No postal pickup today... Congrats to you all! o7

In another note, we've received comms with M3tzger! He's alive and well and still on his way to Sadge. That just leaves CMDR Cavanaugh unaccounted for, though we've not heard from Reload or Jareth in a while. Drop us a line if you read this, fellas! Bucky's worried about you! ;)

Finally, CMDR Alot has kitted out Rhonda the Conda with his sights set on the top slot. It could be that we've got another record setting run in the works. We'll be keeping our eyes peeled for that one.

UPDATE: Preliminary indications from the quantum entanglement beacon at Sagittarius A* place Rhonda the Conda in orbit around the supermassive black hole a record 9 Hours, 39 minutes and 19 seconds after he launched from Galileo earlier today. If analysis of the telemetry confirms this (and without a doubt it will), Alot has set a new record for non-stop Sol-Sag A* transit. Again. As well a setting the top speed for a ship class. Again.

Did anybody just hear that loud scream over comms? Wait, we're picking up a visual feed from CMDR Kligg on the bridge of the Rub (a) Dub... On screen:

Thanks for update. Just wondering why my registration date in preflight staging is 06 Jan 1900? Did I miss something lol

You are just that good - you were prepared enough to sign up 1400 years before the race began. :D

Also, quick update, I'm on my way! 17k down... Really hoping not to get the Iron Lich treatment!

Ummm, you're really proactive? It can't be a mistake, because we never make mistakes here at the Buckyball Run...

So are you gonna get going or what? You've been on the landing pad for 1400 years! :D

Go Alot, fly like the space wind! \o/
Have done! Arrived, collapsed, sent screenshots to EZ. Operation "Do Something That's Not Jump or Scoop" is now a go. :p

Oh, and through all the diving into stars scooping fuel, I had exactly one emergency drop this run ...... into a brown dwarf. Typical. :D

Good grief, Alot's got his own cheerleaders now. I guess it's time to roll out the Alot action figure... :D

Aucoks! Those dwarves are everywhere. Buckyball News Flash - Alot's done it again. Let's just say that 10 hours is no longer the record. Guess I'll go update the big board. Again. THANKS ALOT, Alot! :D

So Kulzar/Correspondant Chamberlain, is a new non-stop Sol-Sag A* speed record newsworthy? :D

Oh yeah, speaking of which... I've got two new tips to share with the group:

1. If you head to about 40Ly above the galactic plane by around 1500Ly out, and continue there until about 3000Ly out, you can do an entire Buckyball A* run without seeing the name "Aucoks". It's beautiful.

2. If you're finding that your witchspace transitions are taking a long time, simply start trying to eat a sandwich between jumps. For the entire duration you are taking a bite every jump, the game will account for this and make the transition as quick as possible, resulting in the pilot scrambling to not fly into a star and/or throw ham, cheese and bread across the floor. Bear in mind that as soon as you have finished the sandwich, the transitions will resume taking about 45 seconds. I hereby recommend being in a permanent state of sandwich-eating for all future runs. Effect of other foods is unknown; attempt with caution.

Note: If you wish to incease heart rate without using the sandwich method, you can also do the same thing by ensuring Java updates are set to popup highly informative and inspirational notifications as you are attempting to pull out of a T_Tauri star gravity well.

Hah, funny you should mention that... There's a small hitch in the recording of my winning BBR6 unlimited run, due to Windows Update deciding that the charge time of my final jump to Agartha was the perfect time to let me know about its exciting new patches. :D

Oh no, I'm falling into the black hole pull me out pull me out of the black hole buckyyy...

Sorry... Bucky was in the middle of streaming a "Red Dwarf" marathon. :sigh: He can't get enough of reality shows. What was the question again, Michey?

Uh... Michey?

Hm, there's a thought... How well would Starbug fare in a Buckyball, I wonder... Might be a pain to get through the slot!

I'm doing some recording for Radio Sidewinder in a couple hours.
Once confirmed and made official.
Guess I could add a Breaking News Bulletin concerning Buckyball A* to the session.

I think we all knew it was coming.. well done A lot!, Ill have another crack at it if I think I can beat that time.. but if theres a brown drwarf to be had 3 times in a row en route.. I have them. aucocks or not.
im a bit worried about reload.. tbh, thought he may challenge the 10 hr barrier.

oh and just for clarification EZ, I know there aren't any mistakes. but my condas ship is the 'Rub Tub'.. it was clearly marked love.. this rub a dub dub trip you've gone off is alarming the herculis body rub people..
and I need to keep them sweet to persuade them to stump up for a 7A scoop.. actually.. maybe I should just go with it and call the new improved lighter jumpier conda.. the rub dub. forget I said anything. ;)

Thanks for the concern - I'm still here! 3,000 or so Ly away from Saggy A last time I checked, not had anywhere near the amount of free time this this night shift I thought I would... Still, next week off, might get a free 10 hours somewhere ;)

Calling this one a practice run, my 5000-10,000 Ly outbound stretch was plagued with unscoopable after unscoopable so kept having to replot and lost an acre of time there. I will be challenging soon, oh yes! :D

Geesh that's what I've been saying! :( Does everyone skip my ramblings or what?

The patch above Aucoks is Blu Ain... my route passes thru this patch. I never had any brown dwarves in my path to Sag A* at all :p And I never knew about Aucoks till you guys posted it after the Saturday run...

Hahaha 9 hours... I love it! Gratz!
