Taking pictures in open play

I've been having problems taking pictures, as in not being able to. Everything I've read says the F10 key takes the pic, then a folder is created. I've got it set to show hidden folders, however the only folder in the elite dangerous file is "options". I've also tried Fn-F10, and printscreen. I'm running out of ideas and the only threads I can find on this are from Aug 2014ish. I'm nearing Sag A* though, and will need the proof! Any other suggestions?

The game will create a "Frontier Developments" folder in your pictures folder within your profile - the screenshots should all be there.

If you're using Win 8/8.1, pictures should be your pictures directory in a sub-folder called '\Frontier Developments\Elite Dangerous\'. Aside from that you're not using 3rd party software like 'EDFX' for graphics modification are you?
.
*Edit* Lol! Multi-ninja'ed! :)

No, not using any 3rd party software. I am using Win 8.1, and the sub folders '\Frontier Developments\Elite Dangerous\ are there, however no pics within. It seems like F10 isn't working at all. Makes me wish it notified you when you took a pic, just so I'd know if the problem lay elsewhere.

The screenshots are named "Screenshot_####.bmp" (where "####" is a number between "0000" and "9999") or "HighResScreenshot_####.bmp" - you could search your drive to see if they are misplaced for some reason.

Are you using a newish HP mediakeyboard?

By default they need FN pressed to make an Fx key work as a function, otherwise F10 is considered a reload IE screen.

I absolutely hate the horrible things.

That did not find any results. So I suppose that means the F10 button is not doing its job. Anyone run into that problem before?

I am using a new HP Envy, so that could be, though I've tried pressing Fn before pressing F10, and still no results. Do I have to hold Fn while pressing F10?

yes.

although i don't know if ED supports this "function" of so called keyboards ;)

well... it could have been an Acer...

HP is a brand everyone knows and had it's merits some decades ago.
Not everyone had contact with all the different brands over some years.

Acer make good and bad laptops - I had a posh one that actually cooked itself. The cheap ones seem to last forever, or die in a week :D

At work, when HP laptops were issued as standard, we had failures and ROE every single week. Every single week. The Lenovo's issued to other people had a fan failure or ROE every few months or so. There is a huge difference.
