Let's be honest, how many of you play Solo/Private vs Open?

The fact that there is a 50/50 split, and the fact that people are freely admitting that the swap between solo and open depending on context. Kinda makes a mockery of multiplayer, and could/would be considered cheating elsewhere. But hey, everyone's got to have choices and the ability to play their way apparently.
I'm hoping by your responses that English isn't your first language.
It's called an opinion. When someone asks a question and you answer it, you are answering with your 'opinion' and opinions don't normally carry any more weight than anyone else's opinion. It's just conversation and opinion. You see a lot of it on forums...
Or multi-character with solo separate from online and never the twain shall meet, but that stable door has been wide open for a year or more...
It does show why the forums are so contentious over these issues. Glad to see this is as evenly split as it is. At least the complaints that one side has an overwhelming number over the other is shown to be false. The devs ARE creating the game they want. The outcome of these decisions will be interesting to watch over the next few weeks.

you are right, it isn't (and i'm always grateful for correcting me so i don't make the same mistakes over and over again).
I'm perfectly ok with opinions. But somehow
didn't sound like stating an opinion to me.
Looks like i got it wrong, sorry.
I'm always in Open.. and within days I might re-enter that tiny but scary part of the galaxy where there are other players!... (and NPCs..)
I'm from England not America. Anyone using the word 'period' instead of 'full stop' outside America needs to be shot. Me included.
the only time i have played in solo was back in Beta during the time were open was bugged to the point of crashing at each jump... thankfully FDev fixed that particular problem rather quickly and i can say i have played open for every time except those few days.
i BH, Trade and explore in open with all of my ships... from a exploration/combat fitted Asp. to my BH fitted Python or my Armed merchant T-9 which is usually loaded with 5+ million Credits worth of goods.
for me personally, Playing in a solo/Private setting isnt an option.

Wow wow wow slow down there cowboy ! No need to get all fired up. Maybe some separate saves or characters, or even Open only CG-s and Solo only explorable things. But no need to make half the popultion of the game bring their torches and forks !

Open 99.99% of the time. The only time i go "solo", is when i cant get a pad at an outpost when i'm trying to dock and in a hurry to log off (which, funnily enough, happened a few minutes ago).

They'd just close it. Apparently the merge function doesn't play well with polls.
I don't think anyone can say if there is an imbalance or not, least of all this poll. I've honestly never though there is an imbalance in anything but PVE'ers, and PVP'ers. I can say it is my opinion there is a 70% to 30% split, in favor of the PVE'ers. Only reason I say this is by the fact the virtually every MMO out there kind of fall's in this range. Why would ED be any different.
I will pose to you this. I think ED because of the formal group and solo modes, attract a bit more PVE focused players. So it's quit possible we could be a 80 to 85% split leaning towards the PVE'ers, vs the PVP'ers. That's just my supposition, which quite frankly could be wrong. But I would bet a hundred dollars I'm right.

Depends. I love pvp but cant do very much since i only just bought a vulture and before i was getting blasted in my cobra
Well the poll as it stands splits near 50/50 Solo/Private vs Open with a mixture of inbetween.
Whilst I play almost entirely open, save for rare landing pad requirements and connection issues, I have no problem with people playing group or solo. I find it pretty incredulous how some people on either side of the discussion are so desperate to champion their preferred mode to the game wide banishment of the other. Let everyone have their cake and enjoy it. If you want to relieve yourself on someone else's cake just because it's not the same as yours then you're the kind of person that words this forum does not allow me to use would describe you.
