OK before this get's closed, consider this....

Way back yonder when me and my mates first experienced ‘Elite’ was on a BBC Micro back in a time - probably before a lot of the guys playing here were even born.

Back then when electricity was new and computers were only unhelpful evil entities on the movie screen, we DREAMED of two things while looking at the wire-framed wonder in front of us...

  1. Wouldn’t this be amazing if you could wear a virtual reality headset type device and this is all you could see…

And

  1. Wouldn’t it be incredible if those other space ships shooting at you were real people…

Fast forward 30 odd years where computing has moved in biblical leaps and bounds since those heady black and white days, and what happens?

Half of us still want to be there.

VERY sad

So all surveys are useless? Pew polls, college campus surveys, email questionnaires... they reach a fraction of the total population they are surveying. The idea is that the results are more or less generalizable to the larger population. In science this is known as external validity.

Forum polls? Yes, almost all of them are completely useless, and generally skewed to reflect the viewpoint of the 'pollster'.

This one is a good example, in my opinion. As long as Solo and Group are lumped together as one 'choice', any pretext of science or relevance have been thrown out the window.

Depends. I love pvp but cant do very much since i only just bought a vulture and before i was getting blasted in my cobra

I love PVP also, but not the ganking, blind siding, type of PVP. To me this doesn't classify as real valid PVP to me. When I was in EvE I lived in 0.0, and fought huge mostly evenly matched battles, against worthy opponents. I really had no interest in easy targets, I liked hard targets.

When we were playing Elite back in the 80s, we had no concept of how bad online gaming can be.. of course we all dreamed of Future Elite where every Krait was a player and only the Thargoids were AI driven.. we knew nothing of spawn/station camping, general griefers or people just out to make a mess of other's game... but these days we know just how stupid online play can become.... what I mean with this is that I totally understand why some people want to play on their own in Solo... I'm still doing Open though. The Galaxy is full of the Good, the Bad, the Ugly and the Stupid, and I like it. :D

Also why is everybody so enraged they lose some money if they die ? I mean there are other far worse games out there. Ever played Dayz or Dont Starve or basically any other roguelike ? When you die GG. Its over. Here you just lose some money...its not the end of the world
