Give a chance for little people

If Skill and a Cobra or Viper would be all that's needed - Frontier could have stopped ship development right at the Alpha-level with 5 flyable ships.
Why waste all that effort then ?

And why can't someone with a swimming ring and a can opener defeat a Carrier Battle Group ?
Because a) it wouldn't make sense and b) Carrier Battle Groups are built to defend against forces 100000x the magnitude of that evil can opener attack.
Makes sense, right? ;)

Thus, tiny ships can't reasonably count on a chance to defeat far more surperior Ships on equal ground (Player vs. Player).
One might occasionally get lucky - but one shouldn't count on it. Just like real life or nature.
Too many word to express the +15 is always better than +10. Use skill to supply but not to replace.

Can you destroy a Deathstar with just an X-Wing? Well you can... but it takes godlike skills to do so.

The sidewinder is like the Ford Fiesta in space. It does the job but if you want to compete with the big guys you are either much much better than the others or you upgrade your stuff.

Currently this is impossible. I think +10 swords should stay off from elite in their MMORPGs.

Hovever, i presume the current design is just an early prototype.

The assumption that someone who is short is disabled is completely wrong. Why would you consider that a disability? I think that's more insulting than the comment you took umbrage at, to be honest.

You call anyone who is short a midget?

Midget is term for someone who has a condition not just someone who is short. It is often also used as a label (wrongly) to describe someone who has dwarfism. They are concondions, not just someone who might be considered short relative to their current company.

Well a good sidwinder pilot against a normal anaconda pilot is what I ment
just how good do you have to be to kill an Anaconda in the 5 seconds it takes the pilot to low wake FSD out? And if the Anaconda is running some turrets, forget winning. No matter how well you fly, you will lose shields eventually.

Have a +1 to rep on me. So many people take umbrage over the things that should not matter, and yet let slide the things that should.

Umm....where in the post do you see the word midget used? Oh, that's right...in YOURS. Which is an issue with how YOU view things, not how purplepomegranite does.

Yes, it is valid to call a short person a midget. Even if the condition is caused by something else (dwarfism, etc.), branding said person "disabled" is clearly insulting. I think you'll find that most "disabled" people find that kind of label distasteful (quite rightly).

The thread title originally said midget (not little people), so that's where this silly argument started. Well... More accurately, that's where the word came from. The start of the silly argument is obvious in the thread. :)

Hi i just started to play Elite, and its a great game.. PvE PvP battles are awesome,2 fixed weapons sidewinders duel its just amazing. But one thing just sucks.. its a ship game balance,i mean its like every other mmorpg.. on the start you get a knife +1,and all you need to do its farm for a sword +10,but why you have system like this in Elite? is there any chance for lets say, cobra or eagle to fight fully fited with mana potions (shield cells)emp clipper? no there is no chance, but why? Why you just can make a balance in game where every ship meets they own role or propose?

Elite is NOT primarily a PvP game, it is a small part of it. As such the ships do not need to be balanced like in an Esport type game. Elite is trying to be a believable spaceman game in the future, and the reality of it is, much like now, if you have the money you can get objectively better gear.

ie a ferrari is better in every respect compared to a mazda MX5, and yet they are essentially the same kind of car (2 seater sports).

That being said.............. going forward I do hope all ships are kept relavent. This could be possible by some missions supplying the ships you need to do it in, or "under cover" missions where we spec a certain way, or simply just some ships having a "blend in" factor. ie if I was trying to keep a low profile in the real world as a getaway car, I would be more likely to use said cheap mx5 rather than a yellow ferrari even if it is the better vehicle!.

All that being said of course, some ships will always fill specific roles better than others, and this may become even more apparent in the future. (some what possibly overoptimistic comments coming)

but for instance the Eagle could well be a superior atmospheric fighter once we can go down to planets - just going on looks.
the moray star boat (if it comes) is a submersible vehicle

I think the problem here is that the OP doesn't know what kind of game he's playing. Elite Dangerous isn't an MMORPG. Once you stop trying to shoehorn it into that particular genre, things might start to make more sense.
