No Oculus Mode in 3D menu

Hi, I have a DK2 and just bought Elite dangerous and seem to only be able to recognize the rift in ED when in Direct to HMD mode. When I set the Rift to Extended Desktop mode, the topdown menu for '3D' in ED only has anaglyph and Side by side.
I have tried uninstalling TeamViewer's Monitor Drivers, as suggested in another forum.
I am using SDK 0.4.4 with
NVIDIA driver 335.23

Any detailed help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks
Jeff

Make sure you installed the runtime, this runs as a service on your computer and tells it that your rift is active. If your not developing the SDK doesn't need to be installed. You can check if the runtime is installed and running on your system by checking the services that are running, there should be one called OVRservices, if it isn't in your services list you don't have the runtime installed.

did you say nvidia 335?? thats like a year old.
use SDK 5 for oculus and nvidia 350.12 is the newest and works perfect.

start there.

also call me crazy, but recently i couldnt use Direct mode (opposite you)...i had to actually update an optional windows update to get it working again. not sure if maybe you are at last resort, its just a silly windows update.
(mine was related to Unity, but somehow a windows hotfix fixed that...)

Yeah, I had rolled back my nvidia driver to see if it worked. It didn't, so ill re update.

Is it just as good to use it in direct mode? I haven't actually played it yet, just trying to set it up. It recommends Extended, as does most forums online.

The performance is currently really poor in direct mode. There's even a warning when you startup the game along the lines of "direct mode has issues, and we're working with oculus on it."

Right, I read that and that is why im hoping to get extended mode working. Any idea how i can fix the problem? Again, there is no Oculus mode in the '3D' menu when the rift is in extended mode

Do you see anything in the rift? Outside the game you should see the desktop in the rift when in extended mode.
Also, you should probably update the oculus runtime. latest version is .5.0.1

Yup.. it works in desktop mode (with other games too)

It does work in desktop mode. I just updated the runtime, and the desktop is still visible in the rift, but now the config Utility says "No HMD Detected", (only when in desktop mode), however, the desktop can still be seen through the rift. The option in the '3D' menu is still not available though.

Is your primary monitor running at 75Hz refresh rate?
For me I couldn't get it to work at all if my primary monitor was set to a lower refresh rate that the rift.

I'm not an expert in this arena, but I think that might be your problem.
For mine I have to lower the resolution to be able to get the refresh rate up to 75. But if the max your's support is 60, you might be needing a new monitor.

60hz is fine.. OP, stating the obvious, have you selected secondary monitor in the ED dropdown? It defaults to the primary. Once secondary is selected you should have the option to enable the rift

I have selected secondary, but I did not click apply. Ill try that, but also, because I have two monitors, should I select tertiary?

- 60hz is fine for your primary monitor, and is still the standard.
- You DON'T need the SDK, as it is only for developing.. and it isn't something that is "installed" anyway.
- Runtime...I heard there were issues with the latest. Don't know what happened with that as I am still running the version I got back in January I think.

Try running just a Single monitor + the rift as a secondary.

I'm sure it runs fine for many people, but in my hardware setup, the rift does not work with the primary monitor at 60Hz.
I only brought it up because I thought it could potentially be an issue.

I am getting this same problem right now.

It recognizes the rift as a secondary monitor, recognizes the custom resolution recognizes everything except the fact that the oculus rift is an oculus rift.

ARK and the demo are working fine though.

EDIT: Checked and rechecked everything. Still no oculus mode.

Is there a way to select this through the config file? If so could anyone tell me what to change and I'll test it there.

Ok, it works fine in Single Player Combat Training.

No oculus option in the vanilla game. Does anyone have any clue how to fix this? Pretty please?
