Don't get this.

Blew up my T7 in Zamka platform a Federation station. When I respawned after paying insurance, bounties etc....they have gone from a friendly ally to instantly hostile. All I did was carry some drugs they didn't like which gave me some fines....the game has cost me about 1m in insurance and 500k in cargo.

How the hell can this happen? :S

Check the map - specifically the local map - and see if drugs are legal in the system. (I suspect not)

Hence, you were probably scanned by the local police, found guilty of breaking the law, fined, shot at and killed (?), and at the same time your reputation changed.

Not sure about going from friendly to hostile though ... seems a bit much - guess it depends on how much cargo you had and how the game deals with it. (Could be a bug; could be intentional; no idea sorry)

The T7 got blew up when I was trying to make a quick run in. But even getting fines shouldn't cause them to instantly attack you. Certainly not at the level I got which was around 30k.

But the really annoying thing about this issue is the game seeming to screw things up by causing the Federation to go instantly hostile from friendly....now because of that bug, I have to re-grind rep with the Feds.

Right - so someone scanned you as you were trying to dock. (If you make it inside before it finishes the scan fails - you can also use Chaff, I believe, that slows down the scanning process)

Regarding the reputation - it could be that you took 1 hit per cargo and carrying enough they instantly disliked you.

I also didn't say it was a bug - might not be (I have no idea) - raise a ticket to support and see.

By the way ... Drugs are bad, mkay :D

If a van parked near the school where your children were and started handing out pharma to the kids how popular would they be?

You got caught smuggling illegal drugs. Of course they will be hostile.

Remember the 11th commandment.

A lot depends on both the severity of the infraction and your current reputation with that faction at the time it's incurred. If you've been strongly allied with the faction at the time of the fine, the net result won't be as bad as if you are neutral when the infraction occurs.

HTH

Smuggling a large load of illegal stuff is considered a serious offense with a harsh reaction from the offended faction.

If you're going to smuggle, you're best to use smaller ships and use the recommended stealth techniques to sneak in unscanned.

It is all your doing and nothing wrong with the game. You were caught carrying prohibited commodities and this have ruined your reputation. And reputation always takes dramatic hit in this case.

And as far as I know (basing on the experience of other players) it is not a bug, but working by design. And yes, now you have to build up reputation with Federation from being hostile.

It just seems a touch severe. I've been caught with 500k cargo before and they never batted an eyelid beyond fines. So I'm afraid something does appear to be awry. I've no problems with this kind of thing happening as it's the whole risk/reward thing, it's just odd on the severity level. The only thing I could see making a difference was possibly the type of ship.

This is exactly the type of player im talking about doesnt understand the basic concepts of the game smuggling illegality and reputation all fundamental pasrt of the game but HOW can this happen

The reaction of the authorities are much worse than anything drugs can do to you. Heck, the worst drug is perfectly legal and socially accepted... at least, here in the States.

Op, all I can say is start small, and work your way up from there. I'd venture to say that starting a smuggling career in a T7 is about a good idea as entering a MMA tournament on a dare...

As stated, you got scanned on your way in, and killed. Criminals are generally killed on site in this game. Rule of thumb, any time you have a bounty or are carrying something you probably shouldn't .... NEVER allow yourself to be scanned. How do you avoid being scanned? Here are your 3 ways.

1. Use your Chaff launcher. It breaks their scan, and they will have to re-find you, and re-start their scan
2. Use Heat-Sink. I hear this drops your temps enough that their scanners will drop you from their radar. Haven't tested this myself
3. Make a wider turn towards the mailslot to make sure you can approach it head on. Keep your finger on your ship's "run silent" button. The second you get scanned (if at all), hit the button and run silent. It will drop their scan. You can usually turn it back off a few seconds later, and finish your approach. Just don't forget to request docking, and don't forget you won't have shields as you go through.

I have never once in this game been scanned when I didn't want to be using the above. Super easy.

I'm aware of some of the methods described above, but I didn't expect to have to think about using them as there was no active bounty/fine.

Hey ho, one little blip in an otherwise top drawer game.

couldnt possibly be your own fault has to be the game do u have a video of the event ? or any proof

In Beta I went from neutral directly to hostile when I got caught smuggling 192T of tobacco to a station that banned it.

Unless they recently toned down the reputation hit, it's entirely possible to aggro a faction with just 1 large load of cargo.
