Your first ever death? Mine happened just now.

Yeah, I just have to voice my annoyance here over an utterly flawed system, and then laugh at the whole thing. I have never ever died before. Ever. Not since release. I've been exploring thousands of light years away from Sol, and I've slaughtered a whole lot of things, from Sidewinders to Anacondas. Never died.

And just now, fighting pirates... literally, in the middle of a fight with a pirate the system authority vessels had already targeted and were already in the process of shooting, my beam laser turret splashed (for less than a second) a police vessel.

Boom, instant 400 credit bounty, and suddenly all those green bleeps turn red. *Everyone* switches target. Nobody is shooting the pirate. Not one person. The pirate is still shooting me, and so are the police. I might have escaped, but typically I was trying out a new build with my little red Eagle (I wanted to see if the agility of the thing made up for it being made of glass - short answer, not really). Furthermore, this was the first time I'd ever actually taken a kill mission - I was hired to kill 5 pirates. I'd killed 4. And as such, this is also the first mission I have ever failed.

So there we have it. Hilariously, having accumulated 8 million credits (correction: 14 million) in exploration pay and kills, I was defeated at last, for the very first time, because of a 400 credit bounty.

Can any of you guys beat that?

I pressed "Launch" rather than "enter hangar" before popping to get a drink. Ship destroyed by the station for pad loitering.

It's a harsh game.

ETA - first death since release that is.

I haven't had any so far in my main game: all of mine have been in beta, and usually for doing something silly, like sideswiping into the wall of a station. Not sure if I know when to call my battles, or if I'm just plain cowardly. :p

Still, I fully expect my first to be at the hands of a jealous suitor, or something. ;)

That's right!

First and so far only time.

Entirely my fault. I meant to pop the ship safely into a hangar for ten minutes while I made a cup of coffee and popped to the loo. Came back, insurance screen. I can only guess I pressed 'launch' rather than 'enter hangar' and the ship would have gone nowhere. I'd like to think the virtual pilot would have got out before it happened.

Head-on collision between my Freagle and another Eagle, back during Beta 2 before collision damage was nerfed.

I died on my first day. A fellow CMDR was upset that my stock Sidewinder didn't have any cargo to give him after a 3 minute interdiction battle. Asked me to drop cargo and shot me when he found out I was empty. My only loss was a bit in bounties, which is a decent amount for me right now.

Faulty joystick, it boosted me into the wall below the mail slot.
It used to randomly boost, deploy weapons and roll left.
Sent it back.

My first death was due to forgetting to request docking permission when playing while overly tired. I could easily have got out in the time allowed but I panicked and crashed :D I blame that blaring klaxon which seems specifically designed to stop you from thinking clearly.

Just started playing the game, knew nothing about it or the controls. Picked up a mission to find a Blackbox, figured it was easy money for a beginner. Had no idea where to look so I stop at the Nav Beacon. After flying around there for a few minutes I see a wanted Elite Cobra. I think to myself "What does the 'Elite' by his name mean? Oh well says he's Wanted." So I start opening fire on him with my stock Sidewinder with no clue what lateral thrusters were or that you could adjust the power system on your ship. Suffice to say the fight didn't last too long.

I'm not sure. It either was me getting pushed back in the station by a T9 and getting shot for not getting out fast enough or self destruct because I didn't know back then that there were systems without stations near Eravate. :D

My first death? Was returning from a 14k ly trip with lots of exploration data on my old Cobra. I was 6k light years from civilization when my bro called me in the other room.
I go afk and after a few minutes I come back... My ship had 450%+ overheat, all systems were failing and hull was at 3%. I tried frenetically to recover but everything was useless.
I never understood what really happened (no suns nearby, no living things around etc), I think I lost around 20m exploration data and I learnt to NEVER GO AFK.

Somehow you triggered silent runnimg. Only way your heat gets THAT high.

My First Dead was in my Brand new Anaconda.... Exit from Supercruse... Spawn in Station...Instant Explosion...6Mio Rebuy... No Ticket (Wait Time is me to long)... Since this Dead i Fly with all my Ships from Planet to Station SC Exit^^

I committed the boost of shame on entering a station. I'd been away for a few weeks exploring and hit boost instead of gear.

Thankfully, my data was sold at an outpost on the previous jump.
