Something weird just happened in Supercruise?

Okay so I've travelled from Diso down to LHS 3447, to sell my 50 tonnes of Diso Ma Corn (or whatever the correct name is),

In my python, I reach Diso and start to Cruise down to Worlidge Terminal. After getting interdicted by an NPC Asp and suffering some damage from being pulled out of SC, I start to continue the journey in SC to the station.

While I'm reading the news on my mobile phone, I hear this strange sound effect through my headphones and look up at the screen. It's weird.

The effect is like a slow down while I'm in SC, but the speed I'm travelling at hasn't changed. It's just that sound and the graphics effect are maybe half speed of normal.

So thinking it's a bug, I slow down and exit SC. Everything is back to normal [speed, sound].

So back into SC and continue final bit of the journey towards the station. And it happens again with the slow down effect.

So I'm wondering whether this is a bug, or a network thing (I doubt it) or, it's something else starting to happen.

Remembering back to the '84 game and how the Thargoids used to pull you out of Witchspace [into a different dimension], could this be something similar starting in the new game?

No idea but just reaching out to see if anybody else has experienced this?

I have noticed that when I lock onto a different nearby target whie travelling at speed in supercruise, the engine noise jarringly changes pitch, almost like changing gear on a car, e.g. switching from a distant planet to a nearby unidentified signal source. Could it be that?

As much as I would LOVE for this to be the first post that heralds the Thargoid invasion, there is a known bug where in SC, over time your framrate drops, however, I've never noticed this impacting sound before (granted I tend to have BBC up on my other monitor while I fly). Next time you notice this, hit Ctrl+F and see if your framerate has dropped substantially. If it has, it's the known bug that FD are working on. If not, it's either an unknown Bug, or an intelligent bug. If it's the latter... Run. Fast. After mashing F10.

No its something else. Just during normal SC. Its not gravity wells from planetary objects.

It gives you the sense that everything is running at half the normal speed. Sound and video effects.

I've been playing all he way back to Premium Beta and this hasn't happened before.

Although it's rather rare, GPU or CPU thermal throttling can cause similar effects.
On many modern Motherboards, it could also be that the VRMs on it are suffering an overheat condition (that'll essentially also throttle the CPU).

To rule out any Networking effect of very busy instances, try doing the same in Solo Mode. If it still occurs there - I'd recommend taking a good look at your various System Temperatures and Components.

It's not overheating as it's just running as per normal and I've run the game longer than this in one sitting. Network mode is something I could check.

Just never seen this before in all the time I've played......
