I've joined the Python Club, good to be here

...but i had to sell my Type 7, Vulture, Cobra and Asp to get it. I kept my beloved Eagle and Viper.

This thing is nuts! It's pitch it kinda slow but it packs a punch. Never had the pleasure of owning a pre-nerf Python.

Good to be in the "Club". 56 Mil is one hell of an joining fee.

A fully outfitted Python is about 140-160 Mil, I wish you a good voyage.

Oh yeah, I know, I haven't even touched it max potential :) not by a long shot. But after about 6 million in upgrades already for C class chields and sensors, some good lasers, couple shield boosters....Its great :)

Upgrade with what you can afford, only upgrade the powerplant as required to enable the next upgrade to another sub-system. If you pitch straight to the 7A powerplant, you will just have surplus power capacity, and it might leak out of your ship, which can be embarrassing :D.

From what I have heard form other pilots who experienced the pre nerf python, is that the best A thrusters are comparable to the stock pre nerf python?
Anybody had both and offer some further input?

Close, close. She was far too nimble for her mass, still miss it though (I only owned it for a few days pre-nerf, gutted was I). She used to fly like the Cobra, at least that's how I flew her.

I hope that 56 includes some upgrades. If not then why didn't you buy the discounted version in Zaonce? That is assuming the discount is still available.

The stock price is just shy of 56 Mil with basic fittings only.

Discounts may apply. Terms and Conditions On Request. Your mileage may vary. Side effects may include drowsiness, loss of appetite, loss of hair, loss of weight, loss of lungs and/or death.

That's cute, but the discounted Python in Zaonce is just under 48 mil stock. I would have at least verified that the discount is over before buying a full price Python.

I bought mine at Jameson with Founder's discount (10%), which applies to fittings also. So my 200 Mil list Python cost only (!!!!!!!!) 180 Mil.

Nice.

I'll keep that in mind.... :)

Thoughts on A thrusters 1st or A Powerplant 1st?
You won't need the A class powerplant until you're trying to fit exotic weaponry and dual shield sell banks along with all the bells and whistles.
otherwise you can fit a very capable python with a C or B class easilly. It's got a lot of power overhead mostly because it doesn't have as many power sumps as other large reactor ships. It only has the 4 utility mounts so you've got a lot of spare power to play with.

I'm a mahoosive fan of my Python, The Unexpected Visitor. <<

Dropped into an Asp to do some exploring (still seeking evidence of thargoids...) and it's like driving a Skoda after rolling around in a Jag. And I liked the Asp when I had one before. :D

Edit, I even spent a bit of time in a Clipper, which was awesome, but went straight back to my Python.

Yeah, the one in the Zaonce star-boot sale is handy for reducing rebuy.

I wouldn't call the Python a nice drive; it's more like a a big truck (the canopy is reasonably nice though, compared with the smaller Faulcon deLacy ships and Lakons). The Asp is much nicer to drive, and in terms of larger ships the Clipper and Fer-de-Lance give a much nicer experience.

The Python handled like a Cobra? Yikes, it's not that much smaller than the Anaconda, it'd be fun flying something that big and yet nimble.

But I actually like the challenge of flying something more challenging, give my last craft was a Vulture. Every now and then I get careless and am caught out. I was coming around the side of a station last night on full power, and was going to line up with the letterbox at the last minute like I normally do. Throttled back, not stopping. Reverse thrust, not stopping. Missed the toast rack and slammed nose first into the station. I slowed enough not to be destroyed, but sometimes I'm glad I play in Solo where no-one can see you dock. ;)

When outfitting, the station in question didn't have the A-rated modules so I ended up with lots of B-rated, so I'm probably heavier than I should be.

I found it more important to run with class A distributor than PP.
I started with class C PP, class A dist, class A FSD, class D everything else for jump distance increase. It can run all the weapons I have on it+ 5A shield.
Made creds, upgraded to class A thrusters.
If you're doing a warship, you could get away with a class B PP, unless you can afford the 51M class A PP.
