Idea: Kickstarter for planetary landings

Guys, what do you think? this will give a lot of money to the devs right now and maybe they will hire more people to speed up a bit this feature...

I will give money right now for planetary landings.... do you?

Well, ED is already well known. I think a pledge on their own website could be enough. Maybe "selling" those beta access for us who cannot join it may be a start if they need to raise funds. Or more ingame vanity stuff (bobbleheads, more paints), special skins for high pledgers...
Just my 2 cents

The way the original kickstarter was worded might rule this out, as this was already mentioned as a paid expansion in the original kickstarter. At the moment they have not said they are running out of money and it's probably more their ability to manage the process that constrains the speed of change

I already gave money for planetary landings based on the original Kickstarter ;)

I don't think money is the issue at all. There is only so much a dev can do within a period of time. Patience is what is needed. Good things come to those who wait... :D

It will be made in due time. Money can't buy you wormholes in the fabric of reality, to cheat the journey with!

Also technically paid for it already, so put that one in as my hidden agenda, as to not be overly receptive. :)

I have discussed something like this for another game (I won't mention).
Apparently Kickstarter's rules forbid kickstarters for existing projects (which that other game was), and thus I doubt Frontier would be allowed to launch a kickstarter for an expansion.

Oh, lets buy some skins then :-D

Im having so fun exploring, it will be insane the day when we will be able to go down there and land.

With the way things are going in the industry I don't think that allowing people who don't already have KS backer privileges to pay for early access would appear too cynical would it?

So ... your idea is to give money now to help fund planetary landings expansion ... and then when it's released, you'll have to buy it anyway?
Remind me again why that is a good idea?

It's been two years since the kickstarter was successfully funded, and I would like to think Frontier have been working on the planned exapnsions, as well as the game, since that time, and thus extra funding should not be required from us, the backers.

It's great that you are enthusiastic about Planetary Landings... So too am I; but I believe we have to wait for the right Galactic Standard Time (GST) when the our planets are aligned to FD's technical reality of development progress.

I would prefer to have a full course banquet and a cake with cherry on top, rather than a half baked one.

No to this idea as many (including my Alpha backing self) have paid for and are eagerly expecting Planetary Landings sometime in the future.

BUT...

a Kickstarter or equivalent fundraiser to add the classic ships such as Mamba, Krait, Boa, Constrictor, Shuttle, Transporter etc. be they playable or not - then yes Frontier, you'd get yet more of my money for that!

More money and manpower does NOT equal faster or better development.
Star Citizen.
Every new release of a Total War game (buggy as hell on release, everytime, no matter how much money and manpower they pour into it).

Then look at smaller projects or even indie games, and what they can accomplish solo.
Or just look at Space Engine, made by 1 man, no funding.

My point is, a kickstarter wouldnt bring us Planetary Landings faster, nor would it be higher quality.
