What criteria do you have for your "home" systems?

Tend to set up camp in Imperial Dictatorships, where all the nay-sayers mysteriously disappears. Makes for more relaxed evenings, and less debate all around.

I've turned into a gypsy. I'll stay at a system for 3 or 4 days, farm RES's, NAV's, and SS's. Do some trading, then move on because the view is getting boring. I generally prefer Agricultural as the central hub for my stays because they usually make for a good anchor point on a 3-way trade route (Tobacco -> Gold -> Performance Enhancers, that sort of thing). I also like to keep tabs on the nearest outpost w/ a black market, though it doesn't have to be in the system I'm staying in. Never know when one of those WSS's will have a load of Military Plans or Rare Artwork.

Where ever I lay my hat that's my home. Forever the hobo.

"Maybe tomorrow I will settle down, but until tomorrow I will just keep moving on".

P.S. "I was born under a wandering star" :)

The system with my pledge station in it. I'm working on building up the main faction to expand out into neighbouring systems [some roleplay]. All very rewarding :)

Initially, my criteria was:

1. Near a border. For me, it's Fed/Empire border with some Independents around. That was based on bounties.
2. Good trade route nearby.

Now, it's based on my database. I could base anywhere, but I've got commodity data on about 30 nearby/clustered star systems, so when I'm on a fetch quest, it's no problem getting what I need fast. I don't use Thrudds, etc, so it's just the data I collected over time.

The combo of those three means I just have to occasionally travel to Alliance space to clear a few mil in bounty claims. No biggie.

I was looking for a nice system in Empire space for months, and three days ago i found one. I was looking for an Imperial corporation with a cool name that i will support when powerplay comes around and make a commitment to make it a power one day. Also a system has to have a RES in it, so im super happy now.

I don't really have a home system as such. I have the as yet untouched Eagle provided by buying the game still docked at (I think) LHS 3447 so at the very least I would think that an Outpost of mine. I'm currently headed mostly toward the Galactic Core on exploration, based out of New Yembo. It's still currently the closest "manned" space to my location and though it does provide fuel and repair facilities, its other resources are extremely limited.

I picked it purely from a fluff / role play view. For those not in the know, New Yembo contains Unity Station, the station built in the first Community Goal at Yembo. It's located just over 200LY from Yembo so it is kinda backwater. That said, many of the systems I've been exploring from there have already been scanned so I'm clearly not the first to have done it. I just like the idea!

For a home system, "Am I wanted there?" Is the first question I ask myself. The second is "How far is it to a system where I am wanted?" Then I look for the 3 R's. Refuel, repairs, re-arm. If the answers are No, close, and check, check, check, I may have found a system to call home for awhile. Extra gold star if it has a black market since sometimes is a major PITA to fence these "liberated" goods.

RES' aren't really on my check list because I don't really care if I'm super wealthy. I've got a well fitted ship and enough for 3 or 4 re-buys plus numerous repairs and re-arms so I'm mainly just looking to interdict anyone whose allegiance lies with the Federation. Any cargo they happen to drop is just a bonus for a job well done!

CMDR Starblade is pretty nomadic, but has stayed in NLTT 8653 (number from memory, may not be quite correct) for quite a while trying to wipe out the pirate scourge there. They've tried to assassinate her many times now; it's become rather personal. I expect she'll migrate to Princess Arissa's territory once Powerplay starts.

For CMDR Moonshadow, however, G 122-60 is home. High tech, good population, relatively close to Alioth. Makes a good base of operations.

...I ask, because I think I just found my new home. I'm mainly a bounty farmer, but I like experimenting with ship loadouts. My new home is...

- Imperial, but with a Federal system next-door (so clearing out my excess bounties is easy)
- Has two planets with metal-rich rings (lots of RES action)
- The planets seem to be orbiting each other, but with the ring plane at odd angles relative to each other
- Both planets have stations inside the ring orbit
- The system economy is high-tech/extraction, as is the Federation system next door

...and the surprise? The view from within the rings, catching the other planet and the star is absolutely spectacular; I've always rolled my eyes a bit at the idea of sightseeing (just computer graphics, innit?), but this one stopped me in my tracks. I'd show you a photo, but for some reason the screenshot didn't work. I'll sort that out soon.

No, I'm not telling you where it is, because you'll all move in and scotch my RES fun ;)

Hahaha I think I know which system you are referring to ;) because my fav/home system has all the Exact same features lol. Is there also another high tech station with a much larger population ~1 jump away :) - Dont worry, I wont tell anyone anyways

A home system's got to have my name on it. Fortunately, despite my uncommon name of Guy (hence my CMDR name), I've found just this. It can make the bulletin board quite amusing for me-

This is what I look for in a "home" world:

-Alliance aligned
-High tech system with lots of ships/upgrades
-A res and nav beacon
-Close to some sort of trade route

and that's about it, unfortunately I have not yet found a system like this, so any suggestions will be appreciated!

Thanks!-CMDR Kbear
