the universe is lifeless

the game is awesome FD, but thing about the ability to land down on the planets we have in elite dangerous....

each place could be differents and on their own taste....

Good news! This is on the horizon. We don't know HOW it will be implemented yet (or when), but it is coming. It might not be skimming the ground in the atmosphere like No Mans Sky, but we are hopeful!

Repped for Mercenary 8bit!!!! Havent seen that in 30 years!

yes we are keeping the heads high , hopefully a gift is coming !

i want to see merlin again yet in elite dangerous or the glorious Capitol atmosphere ! ;) ;) hehe !!

I'm excited for it too and I wish it would be here now but I don't want to rush it at all. My final dream for this game is pursuing a bounty halfway across the bounty and finally cornering him in a rain-soaked back alley, dimly lit by flickering neon signs in the shadow of kilometers-high industrial skyscrapers on a backwater colony world.

Neo-noir space simulator. I can only hope my vision is in line with FD's.

So there's atmosphere on planets ( just like in space https://forums.frontier.co.uk/showthread.php?t=144694 ) will there be different atmosphere types , and some thought about how one would hear , sound on mars is very different to sound on Earth

* Arctic explores , would comment on sound , as you could hear a pin drop , as the air is so cold dense , the soft sounds travel further

thats the idea. no atmosphere means it almost levitates.

some atmospheres can be harsher then others - even on earth the atmosphere burns the entering stuffs. imagine on harsher atmosphere, it could really harms your ship harder

Data on atmosphere composition is already available in the system map on a per-object basis, so yes, I expect that will be simulated to an extent.

Different ships will probably perform better than others in atmo, so the spaceplane-like ships (Hauler, Adder, FDL) or ships covered in maneuvering fins and rockets (Type 7, Federal Dropship) will probably perform better than dagger or wedge shaped vessels like the Viper or Cobra.

I expect re-entry physics will exist to an extent; your ship will take damage if you come in at an angle or velocity that exposes you to significant friction due to heat buildup.

Well lets hope that translate into the sound mechanics and just not limited to the how atmosphere affects flight.

It is understood by many that sound in a game makes and breaks immersion , the transition from space to earth type planet atmosphere, should be heard to be different, as well as seen

Best case scenario is a No Man's Sky type of procedural generation, worst case scenario is it never materializes as an in-game function. I'd imagine it will probably land somewhere in the middle of the two.
