I hope they add that function soon, it makes sense as well, or remove fleets flying in at 100 m/s near starports.
Why not just insert some screen shaking and swirly clouds plus text saying something like "entering *target system* vicinity" and during that do the instance switching just like it is done during hyperspace.It's not a "function" to be "added". It's to do with how the game is structured, each system is a separate instance. It would involve a lot of architectural change, not just nailing something on the end. I doubt it will happen- especially not with p2p networking.

What I'd like to know is did the skybox change over that distance? Probably not, and even if it did doubt it would be detectable
