Really , given Ive had to use the ignore feature , to block the comments, do you think this game will ever improve with the type of "get-em" attitude that is so prevalent on this forum , really is one worst forums Ive ever been on , they come out of the woodwork with only one agenda to knock down and destroy , and everyone's wonders why open is such a nightmare , given the types on this forum, it's no surprise at all

That would make perfect sence if the speed on the indicator was in Mm/s, but it's only in m/s. I don't know what's out there, but it's thicker than air. Which means it cunducts sound too. And does it quite well as the sound stays loud enough for you to hear after meating first your canopy and then all the air inside.

Somewhere in the game materials, there is some handwavium about on-board sound generators in the ships which produce sounds as cues for the pilots- rather than it having to propogate through a dense medium. Outside of your canopy is.. space. It's not particularly dense, and very close to being a vacuum. The low pass filter changes as you "meating first your canopy" are simulating the pressure in the cabin dropping, so you can't hear the output of the in-cockpit transducers.

Nailed it already. Ship's computer handles sound effects so you don't get a case of the space madness. I approve of the sound effects they went for, sounds like what you'd expect everything to sound like at earth sea level.

This is a reasonable explanation for why there is sound IMO.

We probably shouldn't get into the visual aspect of this - that you wouldn't even *see* an explosion for more than about 100ms due to the rapid expansion and equally rapid decrease in density.

I realize how it is meant to be. I was speaking of how it appears to be when you consider the speed limit of 300-400 m/s in space.

..or have a choice between different "sound schemes"? I'd love some Atari 2600 quality beeps and boops :)
Yeah ! oh yes ! that would be cool. I think ; that on the hole thats on way they could make some extra cash is by selling optional graphical tweaks like ; different renders of the milky way (I miss the early beta one...) different HUD configs (as well as letting you make your own) maybe buy parts for your ship like what about unfindable wings for your vulture ?. and like mentioned sound packs , classic elite sound packs would be fun (in an ideal world all ships would sound like tie fighters)

Your idea sounds really good in gameplay terms. But as others already pointed out it's utterly unrealistic. I don't know why you feel the need to attack other forum members just because they deliver the facts to prove your concept of sound wrong. Instead of hating this forum you could just thank them for teaching you physics.

"Your idea sounds really good in gameplay terms" finally ! which strangely ED is, so the physics or how its implemented can be anything you like. The idea was simple , explaining it without have breaking your head on a wall is not.

"teaching you physics." LOL , is what their doing. Think no-one got a clue so hang up on just been right ,with their copy and pasting from wiki lol , they fail to read the intent , which was to increase the immersion for been in space, though manipulating the sound so it seems there is a vacuum ( ie space) , not that anyone has actually got that yet !

"utterly unrealistic." sums up my views of this forum :D

Can you close this thread please I'm done, with this .. please just me my steam key
