T6 Inspiration

Think I've found the inspiration for the T6 design.
Even has vibrant color pack.

Thanks, surprized I never knew about this one. Read up on it on Wikipedia, seemed like a fairly successful experimental craft. It looks and sounds like an excellent model for a "flying car". Not that a lack of design is the reason we currently aren't flying to work this week.

I wonder why the design didn't continue past the military version that came after this one? Charles Lindbergh even gave it praise on its handling and low speed capabilities.

Because at this time jet fighters were making props, prop/ jet combo aircraft obsolete, and it was seen as a dead end.
 
Sure, but now? Prop aircraft are still very alive today. Maybe not in a military or even commercial sense, but a personal plane like this could give the entire Cessna line a run for its money.

Not so sure about that. Doesn't look to be more than a one or two person capable and very little cargo space to transport anything heavy. Could you imagine flying that in the miltary? Talk about a radar cross section from hell.
