New PC SDK - 0.6.0.0 Beta

Updated driver Oculus PC SDK 0.6.0.0 Beta

Main changes:

• The addition of the compositor service and texture sets.
• The addition of layer support.
• Removal of client-based rendering.
• Simplification of the API.

I got it earlier before they pulled it.
But considering it's been pulled, I have no intentions of installing it.
Besides, I have to wait for those handy vr-gear guys to make the modified OVR files for the vr-interceptor tool.
 
I hope FDev update to a newer SDK before CV1 release. ED is built on 0.4 right? I'm sure we'd get significantly better performance out of 0.6 especially, dk2 is a bit difficult to drive right now. I can run ultra 1440p 60FPS in stations but with dk2 on medium with 1.5x SS (basically 1440p), I get 50 at most in stations.

The new SDK no longer makes distinctions between direct and extended. As a matter of fact, the release notes indicate that the option is no longer on the utility tool.

Since the current iteration of the SDK in Elite expect extended mode (that is being deprecated), I'm wondering how this will fit together in the short term.

Eagerly waiting for Raptoid experience... ;)

First impression and may be only my opinion is it runs smoother, no overlapping image reversed that used to kind of make me sick before I even started. Text to me looks better. I am going in the game now and will report back but no crashing seems pretty smooth on startup

Nice black screen when you start, although launched the game and getting a double image. Sure its me checking all settings.

Don't load yet, driver now failing working on it. Be back

I'm wondering, are you on win 7, and if so have you run into this issue?
  • For Windows 7 in Extended Mode, any monitors connected to the computer go black when the headset is on and return to normal operation when the headset is removed.
The only way I can think to get around this to actually get the game started is to run that 'virtual desktop' app (which I've had some issues with).

Win 7 Pro I have not experienced that

Virtual desktop seems to create a few small issues when reading

Well ... At least it works in some capacity. Looking forward to more updates on this. I'm keen to install.
 
Just wanted to try it out but the game only runs in direct mode for me. when starting in extended it switches between my monitor and the rift forever and I can't set up the rift as a primary display on windows anymore.
Edit: I hope the powerplay update will be compiled with the 0.6 SDK for better compatibility

maybe why they pulled it?
did you try anything from unity?

not yet. i tried elite and ets 2 so far. for me games requirering extended mode seem not to work anymore. the demo scene did start at extended but crashed the oculus utility on exit
