Why did ED make the Vulture slower than the Cobra!

I got a Vulture last week and I really like it in combat, I can take out a Python or Anaconda by myself, but I was really disappointed when I found out that it is slower than my Cobra was. Now I have a really hard time chasing down Vipers that decide to head for the hills after you engage them iin a CZ

My Vulture and my Cobra have the highest rated Reactor Bay, Thrusters, FSD and Power Coupling that they can have, but the Cobra that costs 4M CR less than the Vulture is faster in boost by 60 units (382 vs. 443) (I do not know what the unit is called like mph) and with 4 pips to the engine the Cobra is faster by 67 units (244 vs. 311).

I would think that a premiere combat ship would be faster than a general purpose ship that costs 4M CR less!!!

How about a speed tweak for the Vulture ED!!!

While you are at it how about increasing the fuel store bay from a lousy little 3 rating to a 4 rating. As has been said before in other threads, the jump distance is terrible. This ship in my opinion should be able to at least jump as far as a general purpose Cobra.

Its all about balance.... all ships have to have some levels of compromise.... the Vulture's is a slight power deficiency (although not that much) and a speed deficit

Had they made the Vulture another 70m/s faster people would have screamed over-powered....
The cobra is fast but isn't as good in a fight and is a smaller class fighter

The Vulture is designed to fight ships bigger than itself (hence class 3 hardpoints to not give it the stat disadvantage it would have with class 2) ... the Cobra is a smaller vessel designed for a multi-role.

Everything is slower than the Cobra.

A heavy fighter that was faster than the Cobra would completely dominate play.

Vulture is fine. It certainly doesn't need any augmentation.

Buff the Vulture the most popular combat ship in the game at present (afaik)? Really?

[One ship to rule them all and in the darkness pwn them]

While we are at it can we make the Anaconda turn like a Viper and have the speed of a Cobra - after all the Anaconda costs 30 x the Vulture - you would think it could match speed and manoeuvrability with ships that cost less right?

your in a combat zone... let them run, turn and kill something else, they will be back, such a target rich environ, you dont need chase in a vulture.

Balance. Without it game is dead. Even, who badly wanted the Vulture to get a speed boost at the start, understand that it just cant happen.

I own a 23mil Vulture for bounty hunting.
A Cobra or Viper would be outmanoeuvred and toasted in no time.
Faster engines for the "snakes" are a fair choice to balance the ships.

No Vulture tweak is needed or it would become overpowered.
The choice for less power and slower engines on the Vulture is a good choice to keep things balanced.

Vulture is a big game hunter, and it should stay that way. If you want to chase vipers, buy an FDL, or maybe even a viper.

Because the cobra is the ultimate ship in the game. It cannot be killed. Unless the pilot is AI or "not that good" CMDR.

If I could downvote your post, I would.
You have no concept of balance.

It doesn't need a speed buff, or any other buff. It's already too strong right now.

Does this then mean, by your logic, that the anaconda should be like 10 times faster than the cobra?
The conda, for its price tag, should top out around 1200 without boost and be able to turn like a slinky so it can sniff its own butt, and when your multicannons fire forward and aft, the bullets all go the same direction. It should also have a massive plow shaped like a radar dish on its nose mounted on a giant coil spring, so it can collect about three dozen sidewinders and eagles and plow them into the side of the nearest asteroid and just spring back off again.

Nope!
I am very much against a speed tweak for the Vulture. It is already very powerful, very nimble and quite fast.
The Vulture is pouring a lot of it's available power into the disproportionally (not in a bad way, but compared to other ships) large guns.
FD did a great job with the Vulture.
Cobras hardly ever get away from me and if they do, they sure deserve it. I like it when others have a chance. It is like a scene form a scifi movie when a Cobra manages to escape with only a few percent of it's hull intact. Love it.

I agree fully with those that reply for balance reasons as no ship in the game should be the "be all end all", however can everyone replying be a little less snarky about it? It was a question, you all can answer without an attitude as that doesn't exactly give a good name to the player base. It would be nice if these forums didn't go down the road of other game forums....
