Intel HD Graphics

Will the Intel HD 4000 integrated graphics be enough for the alpha?

I can run Diablo 3 at highest settings so it should work no?

Also does the alpha support oculus rift?

Comparing Diablo 3 and E:D is a bit of a stretch as they render their graphics in a completely different way.

As far as the chipset is concerned, it does support Direct3D 11.1. As far as running the game is concerned, you won't be able to turn everything up to high but I expect that you should be able to run it in some configuration.

I hope you have a quad core processor to go with that?

Not sure about the future, but for now integrated graphics are a bit crap for modern games. Spend £100 and get a decent midrange card; you won't regret it.

what card do you think would be a good next-step from an Nvidia GTX460 1GB?

I'm concerned it might struggle with ED, although it runs most games at high settings ok.

Actually, £100 might be optimistic; I got my 6850 for that but it was on very special offer. £100 - £150 will get you a decent midrange card.

i just ordered a GTX 660, came in at £145, the Ti version is about £20 more but i would have had to buy a power supply as well with that one.

I've put up a video using my GTX660 card HERE. It's only just gone up so it might take a while for the HD versions to go through. I am getting 80-100 FPS on max settings at 1920x1080 resolution :D! In the big battle (shown) the frame rate does vary a lot more, dropping below 30 FPS in some cases

Nice result! Even when just below the 30 you mention, it still looks very playable.

Hi,
it turns out that I"ve been accidentally running ED on my Intel processor rather than my GPU  :D!

Check out these videos to see what it can do :). I think its the HD4600; I have no idea what that means

Thanks for sharing this. I'm building a gaming rig from scratch and was wondering if I could run ED on the Intel HD4600 (built-in the i5 4670K) until I save enough money for a dedicated GPU. And it seems I can, and quite decently too. :)

It should run fine. If you're happy to use 1280x720 resolution or similar then you'd probably be able to use the high settings and still get 30+ FPS.

You're welcome :). In the heat of battle I probably couldn't tell much difference between the two; however, I imagine the difference will be felt during more leisurely eploration

Just to add the usual that this is alpha 1 - we don't know what the performance of the game on that card will be like once all the other systems, ships, players, stations etc. get added.
