How to do the Sobek Boys Community Goal

If any CMDRs are struggling to do the Sobek Boys thing you need to hand in bonds from the Low Intensity warzone in Sobek. (It's near the dock)
Come and help out or no one will get paid much ...

Cheers

You actually have to return bonds into the dock where you got the CG in another system, otherwise it won't count. And warzone is right by the only station in Sobek, not visible from the jump point. You need to fly close to the dock and you'll see it.

Description:
The nearby region of Sobek, home to the infamous Sobek Boys, has long been a hotbed of criminal activity.

Mayor Bailey is concerned that the Sobek Boys may try to make some kind of move when President Halsey comes to visit the region, as such ha has authorised members of the Alioth Independents and their allies to end the Sobek Boys reign of terror once and for all.

Those who assist in Securing Sobek for the Alliance will be elligible for a range of rewards, including a sliding scale bonus payment scheme.

System: 78 Ursae Majoris
Station: Townshend Hub
Objective: Submit combat bonds to Allioth Independents at Townshend Hub
How: Kill Sobek Boys in conflict zones in Sobek
Ends: 22 May 3301 18:00

For any new players not certain what to do or get involved:

  1. Go to Townsend Hub in 78 Ursae Majoris
  2. Go to the bulletin board, and join Sobek Boys Community Goal. May as well join the President one too.
  3. Go to Sobek and supercruise to the Landis Freeport, nearby is a Conflict Zone (check your Nav panel once near the station)
  4. Enter the CZ, go to right hand UI panel, tab along to Functions and the top option lets you pick a side. Pick the Alliance.
  5. Blow up as many Sobek ships as you can. *
  6. Return to Townsend Hub, Select Contacts, then Local Combat Bonds. Cash in your bonds.
  7. Repeat as desired.

*Getting yourself blown up will mean you lose all Combat Bonds, Bounty Vouchers and Exploration Data you may have as well as any cargo. Make your own mind up when to flee ;)

Get this one going guys, I'm in the top 5% with only 2 million turned in.

I suspect most people are doing the President one, as it's worth more (in theory anyway, high value RES sites etc). I think it will complete very early, and a large number will start the Sobek Boys one.

Isn't bounty and CZ the same goal?

The upside of CZ being you won't loose any rep' with any other factions, the downside being you'll get paid less than any RES bounty hunting.

Something to ponder i'm sure.

Hmmm, I'm at Landis Freeport now (well 0.2ls away) - No sign of any conflict/war zone. Having deja vu of Quivira here...

Me too. I was there last night and it was OK, this morning the CZ has gone and the Mission progress on the Bulletin board hasn't moved forward.

Ah, thanks for confirming... (I wanted to try the Sobek Boys CG today - was doing the B.H. CG yesterday.) Think I'll go back to RES hunting for the time being anyway...

I got in the top 15% for both goals yesterday evening. The RES in He Bo have proven incredibly profitable for me so far, only big juicy spawns, I made 5 millions (and am promised at least 5mil more as a bonus at the current tier). I recommend you hunt there for the President CG. But don t forget to only cash the local faction's bounties there, keep the main Alliance bounties for Townshend station.

I used the RES near the Coriolis station, it's the only one where I can land my Clipper, also the planetary ring looks nicer, the RES closest to the star has a blindingly bright dust cloud.

Yes, that's where I was yesterday. There's a few RES's there; if one didn't prove too profitable, I'd just jump to the next.
I was also there, but didn't see anything so I went RES-hunting with my Python. Boosted right into an astroid withing a couple of minutes. *ahem* I'm a bit rusty as I've been trading for months. :p

Would you suggest I fly something smaller in a RES or is it simply to learn and try again. A rebuy of over 3 MCr stings a bit. :)

It doesn't help when human players destroy other human players for missfiring instead of letting them go. Their bonds are lost and that benefits no one. Yes I am talking to you !!!!!!. :(
