I don't really want to cause too much controversy, and I hope people can take this with a grain of salt... but there are some serious issues with some of the community at SC... and I am a big SC backer.
This.... it's safe but.. scary 
SC's still going to be a good game even with hiccups like these. I'd guess that CR's and his devs would have messed with the ED alpha and more than likely said; "Nope, our dog fighting module is not up to scratch, we need to refine it and make it work better."
You can hardly blame them, (and really it
should have been expected) the last thing they want is the whole, "ED's flight mechanic is better than ours" being pushed around their forums. So, them pulling up on the fighter module is a good thing, it'll make for a better game once they do get it refined.
If ED make them make their game better, well ... its better for everyone.
