You're in the Outer Arm as others have said.
You're also on the other side of the Formidine Rift.
You are in the place where it could all kick off if Fdev are following Drew's storyline.

Formidine Rift was mentioned in a couple of books by Drew Wagar. The directions to it are "take a line from Reorte to Riedquat and keep going".
Acaelus Thorn took it upon himself to find out exactly where it is. I jumped in to try and help in the thread.

There are hints and a couple of quotes of dire things that have happened in recent history in this area. One quote mentions about so many thargoid ships that they blot out the stars (paraphrasing).
We don't know much for now, but the indications are that "something" will happen in this area at some unspecified time in the future.

What’s really spooky are the signal sources that seem to appear and disappear in the area, tried to follow them but when I jump to super cruise they mysteriously disappear.

Are the Thargoids ammonia / Boron based life forms? There are many ammonia worlds in the outer arm where I'm exploring.

Looks like I'm in the same sort of area.... hadn't picked up the books previously as I didnt think they had much of an impact on the game, but have hastily ordered a copy whilst I finish making my way up the arm and on to the next one...
