Planning to sell an expansion over an incomplete game is wrong!

Its similar to the old "Im not a racist but" that's followed by a stream of pure racism.

No, it's not similar to that i the slightest, get real. Sadly it's an acknowledgement of the fact that any dissenting opinions on the game (valid or not) tend to be met by rather personal, aggressive and trollish replies by a certain subsection of this forum community, many of whom are backers and should damn well know how to behave better.

Quite a bad comparison, because your example is based on personal taste. Whereas the points made above although highly influenced by personal taste and preference do have some factual aspect to them. At the moment the game is not complete not by the standers the defs themselves have put up for themselves, but one could argue that the main website give the impression of the fully developed game being available right now. Which is oblivious not the case.

It is, however, like saying "I think this album should have two more tracks than it does now so it's incomplete."

Worse - they said they would do expansion packs before even WRITING the game in the first place! The gall...

Considering it's a huge online multiplayer player with constant updates and new features, and no subscription charge whatsoever, then I applaud Frontier's business model. Pay €50, get a massive game, with updates, no subscriptions ever, and optional paid expansions. Compare that with the iOS gaming model - free game, with cooldown timers/currency models that push you into buying regular currency packs. Yeeeeeeuch.

1. Planetary landings and walking around stations/ships were always planned to be in paid-for expansions, not part of the core game.

2. The updates we have had so far, including the up-coming Powerplay 1.3 update have all been free.

3. Frontier did say the game wouldn't be complete on day one and anyone buying the game, if they had done their research, would know that.

4. A lot of people who have bought the game are enjoying playing Elite: Dangerous and personally I have spent more time playing Elite: Dangerous than any other AAA game and the game has certainly been worth the amount I paid for it.

I don't see the "problem" highlighted by the OP.

I'm going to put my blunt version on this:
I appreciate then English may not be your first language - so how may years of learning has it taken you to get the the level you're at? Because, believe me, it's not great.
Why is that relevant?
Code is not the developers' first language, not by a long way, and for programs to work the code has to be perfect - not vaguely near and we'll work out what you mean.

Simply put - if you can do better, please do. (You can't.)
If you can't, feel free to make suggestions, but this kind of "I'm entitled to xxx" ranting is childish and annoying. Stop it.
If you really hate the game (as it is) and think it's not worth what you paid, go direct to Frontier and demand your money back.

It is, however, like saying "I think this album should have two more tracks than it does now so it's incomplete."

Or indeed - If the artist had given me several updated versions of the tracks I was not keen on, for free, since I purchased the album. Just no more completely new tracks.

This what i am saying too, i am not against expansions, i am against to put basic futures of the game to expansion. Like you said, first add the futures that needs in the main game and put the new contents to the expansions, i am happy to pay 200 euro/ pound to that.

Am I the only one noticing an abrasive logical issue here?

Support the game or don't. Making a game back then didn't take anywhere near the resources it does today. I'll happily buy all the expansions FD puts out.

Agreed, in fact given that we are now approximately six months after release and have yet to hear anything about the first paid expansion makes me even more happy with FD, some developers (Bungie as an example) would have thrown a paid expansion out by now.

Sorry but I got bored reading it less than halfway into it, 3 times.

I am not gonna multiquote, but some people choose to answer by saying nothing but this nonsense. If you dont wanna read what this guy says, Why do you even post? I guess you are one of those that have an answer for a-n-y-t-h-i-n-g. You know what Clint Eastwood said about opinions, right?

Now, the problem that the OP has with this game is that FD wasn't quite honest about it. Their main motto was "a living-breathing galaxy". Well the galaxy is beautiful but it's not alive. It lacks depth and the background sim is $%$*$#. We 've been through this over and over again in the past and i have to admit that FD are trying to improve it but this game still feels far from finished.

You should also keep in mind that a casual gamer doesn't give a rat's ass whether the development company consists of 2 people based on a garage or a team of god-developers based on a high tech establishment. Other elements such as, budget, share prices and sales of a game are not of importance for a potential byer and should not be. Two things are important. Price tag and consinstency. If FD says that you are bying a complete game, then it should be complete. If not, than this is called inconsistency. Saying that "we will keep developing the game after release" is a lot different than "we will have a complete game somewhere in the distant future"

Nevertheless, we live in a planet where not everything is working as intended. That said, companies will make mistakes and there is nothing suspicious about it, unless they do nothing to rectify it. FD are trying and that is a fact. If you ask me, i think that ED will never be the game i thought it will be, but still, it can be a game worthy of every euro/dollar spent and i am cool with that. Most probably, it will never get a 10 from me but it can reach an 8. Not bad, not bad.

On the other hand, i believe that people today have every right to show their frustration, cause they feel that they bought a pre-released version of a game with a huge potential. They feel violated and unlike others they do not enjoy it. It's in FD's hands to prove us wrong and i have faith in them. Untill then...

Some of us have already paid for the upcoming expansions.

So.. We should just accept it and let everyone else get them free? Oookay.

Exactly, because if they aren't free, I will request a refund for the Lifetime Expansion Pass. However, aside from planetary landings and walking around ships, it's still up to FD what will, or will not, fall under the LEP.

I drunkenly bought this game for $150 one night. I'm pretty sure I don't need to pay for expansions, but I'm ok with you guys paying for them.
